Thomas Trice Obituary

Thomas L. Trice, IV, passed away peacefully with his wife at his side on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, after battling a rare and aggressive form of prostate cancer. Born on April 19, 1948, in Easton, MD, Tom was the son of the late Thomas L. Trice, III and Beulah (Beach) Trice. He was a 1966 graduate of Colonel Richardson High School and a 1970 graduate of Western Maryland College (now known as McDaniel College) where he earned a B.A. in Economics. In August 1972, Tom married Charlotte (Robertson) Trice and they raised three sons together. Tom enjoyed a successful career as a practicing CPA on Delmarva, most notably as a managing partner at Trice Geary & Myers, LLC in Salisbury for nearly 30 years. Prior to that, he was a partner at C.W. Amos & Company and a staff accountant at Quinn, Aronhalt and Company in Denton, MD, upon graduation from college. Tom's 50-year career was driven by his passion for serving his clients and he truly enjoyed engaging with each client that crossed his path. He also loved giving back on Delmarva, where he served as Past Chairman of the Greater Salisbury Committee and Past Chairman of The Richard A. Henson Foundation Board of Trustees. He was also a past member of the Board of Visitors at UMES, as well as a former member of the Dean's Advisory Council of the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University. Tom embraced sports and was a devoted fan of the Orioles, Ravens, Colts, Wizards, and the Terps - making sure to have a tv on at all times to keep tabs on the scores of each game. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and he often found time for both on the many travels that he embarked on with Charlotte. Together they made many beautiful memories at their beach home in Avon, NC with family and friends. Tom and Charlotte especially loved visiting Florida several times a year, along with traveling to new places as often as possible. Tom's greatest gift was his love for his wife and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Thomas C. Trice (Kerri) of Port St. Lucie, FL; Douglas G. Trice of Delmar, MD; and Andrew M. Trice (Marta) of Salisbury, MD. "Poppie" will be especially missed by his nine grandchildren: Tyler, Cassidy, Matthew, Sarah, Rebekah, Olivia, Maxwell, Natalie, and Zachary; along with his great-grand-daughter, Elaina. Tom is also survived by his sister, Louise Perry (Bruce) of Easton, MD, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will take place on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00pm at Trinity's Family Life Center at 31193 Mt. Hermon Road in Salisbury, with funeral services beginning at 2:00pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar, DE. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Johns Hopkins cancer research that is specific to Tom's rare battle. Donations can be made online at https://secure.jhu.edu/form/Kimmel (under "select gift designation," choose "other" and write in "Dr. Catherine Marshall/prostate cancer research," and check "yes - Thomas Trice" for gift designation).
