Thomas Ulahannan (Vadakkekudy), beloved husband, father, and grandfather, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2024, at 3:36 p.m. in Murrayville, Georgia, surrounded by his family. Born on May 1, 1934, in Kadavoor, Muvattupuzha, Kerala, India, he was the youngest of seven children of Ulahannan and Mariam Vadakkekudy. His siblings-George, John, Mathew, Sr. Fidelis, Joseph, and Fr. Jacob-preceded him in death.
Thomas grew up in a devout Syro-Malabar Catholic family in the Kothamangalam Diocese, Kerala, India. After completing his early education, he initially pursued seminary training with the Paulist Fathers but later chose a different path. In 1961, he embarked on a successful business venture in Cheruthony, Idukki, Kerala, India, which eventually led him to a career in agriculture.
In 1969, Thomas married Thresiamma Antony of Nelluvelil, Vezhapra, Alappuzha, Kerala. Together, they raised three children-Tison, Tibu, and Tigy. Thomas was deeply committed to his children's education, emphasizing the values of hard work and dedication.
In 2000, Thomas immigrated to the United States, initially settling in Michigan with his sons Tison and Tigy. In 2015, he and his wife relocated to Georgia to join their youngest son, Tigy, and his family. Thomas enjoyed traveling to visit his other two children, Tison Thomas in Maryland and Tibu Thomas in North Carolina.
Known for his profound spirituality, Thomas attended Holy Mass daily and immersed himself in theological and spiritual literature. His grandchildren-Tom and Tony (sons of Tison), Joshu and Jeremy (sons of Tibu), and Sr. Jacinta, Rose, Clara, and John (children of Tigy)-were his greatest joy and pride.
Thomas will be remembered for his strong faith, dedication to family, and unwavering commitment to education. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him. His love and dedication to his family were boundless, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
