Mr. Thomas W Usry

Mr. Thomas W. Usry, age 86 passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 30th 2025. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M, Monday, October 6, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Brother Troy Fripp, and Brother Marty Dillon will officiate the service. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Thomas W. Usry, was born October 22, 1938, in Lee County, GA to the late Marvin and Esther Stinson Usry. Thomas attended school in Smithville, GA and Leesburg, GA. After school he enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lake Charles, LA. He served two years. He and Beth got married around that time and were married for 65 years. They lived in Jacksonville, FL for 4 years. After moving back to Leslie, he started work making furniture for Mobile Homes. Later they moved to Americus and he worked for DOAS as a screener of surplus property. He retired from there and went to work for the Council of Aging as a driver for Meals on Wheels. He cared for all the people he delivered meals to. Survivors include his wife; Beth Usry, and children Thomas D. Usry of Niceville, FL , Barry D. Usry (Doris) of Americus, Thomas James Bowen (Tiffany) of Schley Co., Christopher Cooper (Kaitlynn) of Marion Co., Robert Holman Jr. of Americus, Mary Beth Usry of Leslie, Michele (Mike) Shepard of Port St. Joe, FL, Harriet Holman Braden of White House, TN, and Billie R. Underwood (Dwight) of Americus. Great grandchildren; Daniel Bowen and River Bowen of Schley Co, Daniel Gilbert and Michael Shepard of Port St. Joe, FL. Two brother in laws also survive; Lynn Gregory of Marietta and John Ferguson (Mikki) of Americus. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl H. Oakes, and a sister Juanita Gregory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made out to the Benevolent Fund at Pleasant Grove Church.
