Thomas Dominic Valiante, 74, passed away on September 30, 2025, at Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Centre in New Milford, Connecticut. He was born on December 20, 1951, to Salvatore "Sarge" Valiente and Velma Yuhas Valiante of Saugatuck, Connecticut.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War in the late 1960s. In 1993, he began working alongside his partner, Bruce Mihalski, in Vintage Clothing and 20th Century Modern & Art Deco Jewelry. Together, they collaborated on numerous projects for film and television costume design. They also owned and operated a successful vintage clothing shop for eight years called Hollywood & Vine in Pound Ridge, NY. A staple of the metropolitan area, the store was frequented by many famous customers.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, his sister Elaine, and his son Jacob "Jake" Valiante. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Valiante, and his partner, Bruce Mihalski.
A funeral Mass will be held at Assumption Church on October 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., located at 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport, CT 06880. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery (Kings Highway North and Edge Hill Lane, Westport, CT 06880) in the Valiente family mausoleum. A reception will take place immediately afterward at the VFW, 465 Riverside Avenue, Westport, CT 06880.
