Thomas Vaughn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2025.
Thomas D. Vaughan, age 92, of Seymour, entered eternal rest on November 2, 2025, at the West Haven VA Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Jane (Zygmunt) Vaughan. Tom was born on August 8, 1933, to the late Michael Vaughan and Julia (Fogarty) Vaughan. He lived in Shelton for most of his life, moving to Seymour in 1998. Tom retired in 1993 from Black & Decker in Shelton (formerly USM Corp) with 33 years of service in the Shipping Dept., and he served as Financial Secretary for his Union for many years.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Catholic War Veterans, St. Michael's Post 1562 and the American Legion, Emil Senger Post 10. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Good Shepherd of St. Nicholas Parish for many years.

Tom enjoyed watching most sports including baseball, football, basketball, bowling, and golf. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, and UConn Huskies Basketball. In his younger years, Tom enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and playing cards, all of which he was quite good at. After retiring, he became an avid walker and remained so up until a few months before his passing.

In addition to his wife Mary Jane, he is survived by his son David and his wife Yong of Florida; daughter Karen of Shelton; granddaughter Lisa and great-grandson Jaeson of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers Donald and Gerald Vaughan and his sister Mary Kezelevich.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the VA for their kindness, support, and compassionate care during his time there.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony V. Chepulis Funeral Home 47 Washington Ave. Seymour, CT. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, Derby, CT.
