Thomas Allen Volmer, age 80, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on January 11, 2026. He was born on July 11, 1945, to Alvin Volmer and Elizabeth “Betty” (Schwister) Volmer in Milwaukee, WI. On October 1, 1966, he married Grace Langenecker in Menominee Falls, WI, and the two shared a lifetime together and raised one daughter Laura.

Tom showed the value of hard work throughout his life. That dedication began early in his life when he was first dating Grace. He would walk two hours to spend 2 hours at the roller rink with her. Roller skating was truly a passion for the couple, and they shared that joy with their daughter. Tom loved children and sharing joy with them. He participated in the local JayCee’s in southern Wisconsin, and for many years, he brought joy to children in the local hospitals when he dressed up as characters like Big Bird, Elmo and others.

Tom enjoyed camping. The family adventures brought them to various locations on the U.S. East Coast as well as Canada. That was a long-time source of joy for Tom. He was also active in his church, serving as an usher, a communion server and acolyte.

Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Grace, his daughter Laura (James) McCluskey, and grandchildren: Kaitlynn McCluskey, Shannon (Tanner) Eggenberger; great grandchildren: Noah, Blake, Baylor, and Baker, and his dog Margo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Geraldine (Arthur) Kunick.

A funeral service for Tom will take place on Wednesday January 21, 2026, at 3:00pm at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street Menasha. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the service begins. Tom will be entombed at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
