Thomas Walsh Obituary

Walsh, Thomas
COHOES - Thomas D. Walsh Jr., 62, of Cohoes, unexpectedly passed away, on Thursday, July 17, 2025. He was born and raised in Cohoes, N.Y., and was a 1981 Shaker High School graduate. Tommy was the son of his beloved mother, Lorraine M. Walsh, and his late father, Thomas D. Walsh Sr. Tom had a lifelong love for the bowling industry. He had a passion for wanting to promote bowling through instruction, fundraising, and pure enjoyment of the sport. Most of his hours were spent at his love and joy, Uncle Sam Lanes. When he wasn't at a bowling center, his second passion was spending time at his camp with family and friends, often sneaking off to Saratoga Race Track, he gave many horse tips, but few paid off. Jr. was also an avid Mets fan, and spent hours watching his favorite team at camp. He will be missed, but may he rest in peace. Tom Jr., the oldest child, was loved and leaves behind his siblings, Kevin, Cathy (Steve), Colleen (Steve), Terry (Dan), Tina (Mark), David (Kristin), Dan (Beckie), and the late Patty Walsh. He had several nieces and nephews that loved him, Jessica, Kayla, Ryan, Taylor, Karly, Erin, Madison, Meghan, Michael, and Tanner. He had an exceptionally close relationship with his nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed. Tommy loved his family and friends, sharing a special relationship with Kara, Anthony, and Zachary. The family will receive friends at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services on Thursday are immediate family only. I am so sorry to hear of Tom´s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.
I bowled with Junior and knew him for many years. He made Uncle Sam Lanes a place where you just wanted to go bowl and have fun. Junior will be missed by anyone who knew him.
May he Rest In Peace.

My condolences to the entire Walsh family. Though Tom and I have not seen each other in some time I still remember our days back in school at Latham Ridge, bowling on Saturdays and swimming at your parents house. Those are good times to remember. You will be missed.

I had the honor and privilege to work with Tom through Uncle Sam's Lanes before my retirement from the VA Medical Center. Tom was such a caring and truly compassionate person. He treated our Veterans with the respect they deserved and so much more. He adapted the lanes to individual's needs, he provided coffee, he never let a Veteran that was truly interested in bowling go without their own bowling ball (he donated many!), he offered his guidance in annual fundraisers and every Christmas he provided a party after the weekly bowling program. He was a very special man and will be missed, but thought of fondly often.
