Thomas E. "Shorty" Yates

Thomas E. “Shorty” Yates, of Medina, NY, entered into rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Born August 21, 1944 in Medina, he was a son of the late Raymond and Florence (White) Yates. He was a graduate of Medina High School. Tom married his wife, Christina A. Di Nardo on July 5, 1969. The couple were lifelong residents of the area. Tom worked for many years as a security guard, lastly for Doyle Security. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Christina in 1997; great-grandson, Landon Taylor; and siblings, Ronald “Jim” Yates, Robert “Bob” (Donna) Yates and Francis “Dyke” Yates and Theresa “Peach” (Kenneth) Keller; and nephew, Jimmy Yates.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather “Lilly” Weaver (Wade Mooreland); grandchildren, Kaylee Weaver, Erik (Charity) Weaver, Nicholas Weaver (Brianna Peterson), Erika Weaver and Patrick Taylor; great-grandchildren, Mason Taylor and Delilah Weaver; sister, Cathy “Pudge” (Bill) Cotriss; sister in-law, Loreeta Yates; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 15 from 1-3PM with a memorial service following at 3PM at the New Hope Community Church (First Baptist Church), 203 W. Center St., Medina.
