Thomasine Hughey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maley-Yarbrough Funeral Home on Jan. 17, 2026.
Thomasine Hughey, age 72, of Covington, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, just two days after celebrating her birthday.

She was born on January 15, 1954, to Marshall and Annie Mae Hughey in Covington, Tennessee. Thomasine was the twin sister of Bernadine, who passed away at a very young age, but whose memory remained close to Thomasine's heart throughout her life.

Thomasine was known for her radiant smile, joyful spirit, and kind heart. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and treasured the special memory of seeing him in concert with her sister, Debbie. Music brought her happiness, just as she brought happiness to everyone around her.

She enjoyed working on needlepoint projects and painting by numbers, finding peace and creativity in every piece she made. Thomasine never complained and always carried herself with the most respectful manners. Her gentle nature, warm smile, and loving personality made her a true blessing to all who knew her.

Thomasine believed that love, kindness, and a smile could brighten someone's day, and she lived that belief daily. She loved the Lord with all her heart and always sought to reflect His image through her words and actions.

After graduating from her homeschool program, Thomasine became a cherished member of the Helen Tucker Foundation family. Over the years, she shined brightly, touching countless lives with her sweet spirit. The Helen Tucker Center became her second home, where she formed lasting friendships and continued to spread joy to everyone she met.

Thomasine truly loved everyone, and everyone truly loved Thomasine. She was, in every sense, a precious soul with a matching personality, a light that will never be forgotten.

Her legacy of faith, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Marshall & Annie Mae Hughey, a twin sister; Bernadine Hughey, two brothers; James Hughey and Kenneth Hughey, one sister-in-law; Carol Hughey. Thomasine is survived by two brothers; Benton (Lynda) Hughey and Wayne Hughey, one sister; Debbie (Scott) Daniel, and a host of many friends and family.
