Tilton Chatman Stringer, Jr. January 26, 1927 – August 18, 2025 Tilton Chatman Stringer, Jr., 98 of Tylertown, MS passed away Monday, August 18, 2025. He was born Wednesday, January 26, 1927 in Tylertown, MS to the late T.C. and Lucy Stringer. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Fortinberry Stringer; brothers, Cletus T Stringer and Charles Philemon Stringer; great grandchild, Carson Box; daughters-in-law, Susan Lorraine Betz Stringer and Debbie Stringer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Mesa Baptist Church, 12 Mesa Road, Tylertown, MS 39667, from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Bro. Buddy Day, Dr. Shane Freeman, and Bro. Clay Spinks will officiate. Capps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Tilton was a lifetime member of Mesa Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving the Lord and spending time with his church family. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp where he served during WWII. Mr. Tilton was also a co-owner of the Suburban Florist Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family, following the stock market, and sitting on the front porch in his swing. Survivors include his sons, Tilton Chatman Stringer, III and Alan Stringer; daughters, Loreen Slaughter (Gregg) and Kimberly Peters; grandchildren, Adam Slaughter (Lauren), Courtney Box (Keith), Heather Fullen (Bubba), Alex Futch (Delia) and Matthew Stringer; 9 great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family. Pallbearers will be Adam Slaughter, Dr. Keith Box, Bubba Fullen, Alex Futch, Humberto Futch, and Matthew Stringer. Special music will be performed by Diane Ravencraft and Debbie Ivy.
