Tim J Dant, 70, passed away in the early morning hours of August 6, 2025, at his Washington residence. He was born in Washington on January 1, 1955, the son of Ambrose "Hootie" and Nancy (Myers) Dant. On September 1, 1979, he married Cathy (Williams) Dant, and she survives.
Tim was a 1973 graduate of Washington High School. In 1979, he graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree. Tim enrolled in the Robert McKinney School of Law at Indiana University earning a Juris Doctor Law Degree in 1987, a practice he continued for the next thirty-seven and a half years. He dedicated his expertise to the Washington area serving in many roles: probation officer in 1980, city attorney beginning in 2017 and continuing until his retirement in 2025, disability attorney, and was in private practice in the law firm of Hayes and Dant. Tim gave generously of his time to the Washington Little League as a coach, mentor and a leader. He was a past president and member of the Washington Jaycees.
A man of many interests, Tim loved all genres of music - especially rock 'n' roll and the Beatles; he was an avid golfer and was a founding member of the annual "Pro Hackers" golf tour. Most of all, Tim was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Those who are left to cherish Tim's memory include his mother, Nancy Dant; wife, Cathy Dant; children: Patrick (Natasha L.) Dant, Angela M. (Aric Mitchell) Dant, Craig (Darah) Dant; grandchildren: Jaydee ( Gunnar Jones) Dant, Leigha Dant, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Kaden Mitchell, Kyzer Mitchell, Lincoln Dant; several nieces and nephews; and siblings: Tena Williams and Mona (Jeff) Barnard, all of whom live in Washington.
During his lifetime, Tim mourned the loss of his father, Ambrose Dant; mother-in-law, Norma Williams; father-in-law, Robert "Bo" Williams; infant grandson, Nolan Patrick Dant; brother-in-law, Mike Williams; and nephew, Brock Williams.
