It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tim Kennon Davis, a respected member of the Weatherford community, beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend. Tim passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the age of 51.
Born on November 27, 1973, in Odessa, Texas, Tim was the son of Delmer "Del" Davis and Cynthia "Cindy" (Johnson) Davis.
A talented athlete, he played basketball at Abilene Christian University, where he also earned his Bachelor of Arts in English in 1996, and then began his professional journey as an English teacher and basketball coach - a role in which he inspired many young lives. Over the course of a twenty-year coaching career, he led his teams to more than 400 victories - a testament to his dedication, leadership, and passion for the game. Later, he transitioned into business ownership, proudly running Mr. Jim’s Pizza in Weatherford.
In July 2005, Tim married the love of his life, Amber Phillips. Together, they made beautiful memories raising three children and opening their hearts and home to many others along the way.
Tim was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid reader and a published author, with a deep appreciation for the works of Stephen King. He enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, researching statistics on teams and players, and following any basketball game. He also had a unique gift for calligraphy and drawing. Tim had a sharp mind and loved a spirited debate, always ready to challenge others with thought-provoking conversations. He was a practical joker, often using humor and wit with an element of competitiveness.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Delmer Irvin Davis, Sr. and Prunella (Williams) Davis, as well as his maternal grandparents, Ralph H. Johnson and Lydia M. (Wall) Johnson.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife, Amber Davis of Weatherford, Texas; sons, Jordan Davis and Kobe Davis and wife, Katelyn; daughter, Drew Davis; and by those children he opened his heart to, including Adam Gallardo, Scotreal “Bam” Hayes, and his niece, Kayleigh Hilthon; and two granddaughters, Ava Davis and Mila Davis.
He is also survived by his parents, Del Davis, Jr. and Cindy Davis; sister, April Hernandez and husband, Marin; nieces, Cheyenne Lindsey and Cherokee Cumpton; nephew, Dakota Hernandez; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Tim’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
