Tim Shivar

Walter Timothy "Tim" Shivar, 84, of Snow Hill, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Anderson; son-in-law, Andy; and grandchildren, Hayden and Whitley Anderson of Winterville. Tim is also survived by his brothers, Curtis Shivar (Virginia) and D.W. Shivar (Edie); cherished sister, Marian Barwick; and sister-in-law, Trudy Shivar, along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Tim dedicated his life to a distinguished career at DuPont, where he worked for 31 years. After retirement, he began his second career with Wayne County EMS. In addition to his professional achievements, Tim served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in October of 1969. He was also a dedicated EMT volunteer, covering Wayne and Lenoir Counties for over 20 years. He served several years as Captain of the Seven Springs Rescue Squad, President of the Wayne County Association of Rescue Squads, and Chairman of the Wayne County EMS Advisory Council.
He was a dedicated father, always taking care of his little girl. No matter the time, day or night, he was always there to lend an ear or help in any way possible. Though he loved his daughter, his biggest joy was being Pop Pop to Hayden and Whitley. His love for them took him from the bright lights of dance recitals for Whitley to hockey games and riding the roads with Hayden. The constant presence in their lives spoke louder than his words. In his calm demeanor, strength was found, and in silence, love was always felt. The advice given, faith shared, and values bestowed will forever live on through each of them.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Tim's life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Todd Sutton officiating. Burial will follow at Daly's Chapel Church in Seven Springs, NC.
