Tim Rollo Waldo, age 80, of
Fremont, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at the Michigan Veterans Home in Grand Rapids. Born on April 15, 1945, Tim lived a life marked by curiosity, craftsmanship, service, and an unwavering dedication to the people he loved.
Tim grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1964. Soon after, he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1968 as a jet mechanic, receiving an honorable discharge. His passion for aviation continued as he completed studies at the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, earning his Aircraft and Powerplant license in 1971.
Tim's career reflected his inventive mind and hands-on talent. He worked for McCulloch Aircraft in Lake Havasu, Arizona as both an aircraft mechanic and a field representative. In 1980, he returned to Michigan and co-owned Waldo's Party Station, where he helped organize the state's bottle deposit system and invented a can-counting device. From 1985 to 2011, Tim owned and operated Tim Waldo Productions, a woodworking shop in Fremont specializing in half-round cedar logs and custom cedar products. His creativity and craftsmanship were further reflected through his three patents on file with the U.S. Patent Office.
Beyond work, Tim had many passions. He was an avid woodworker, photographer, and loved to tinker. He was always building, improving, or imagining something new. He loved boating, skiing - both water and snow, watching NASCAR and cheering on the Detroit Lions. Above all, Tim treasured time spent with his family.
Tim is survived by his daughters, Carrie (David) Crosley and Courtney (Austin) Wyngarden, his former spouse and mother of his daughters, Shelli LeBoeuf Waldo; his grandchildren Samantha, Cameron (Jaylyn), Brayden, and Garrisen; and his great-grandchildren Brynn, Charlotte, Max, and Stella. He is also survived by his brother Bart (Linda) Waldo, nephew Ryan Waldo and cousins Tom Shoecraft and Paula Shoecraft.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Forrest and Mary Waldo, and brother Kip Waldo. He was also preceded in death by aunts and uncles Dorcas and Gilbert "Mort" Mortland, Ross and Virginia Shoecraft and Hester Shoecraft, and his cousin Marilyn McKune.
Tim will be remembered for his stubbornness, ingenuity, his adventurous spirit, his love of the water, and his deep devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the craftsmanship of his hands, the inventions he brought to life, and the loved ones who carry his memory forward.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Michigan Veteran Homes, located at 2950 Monroe Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.
