Tim Shelton West

Funeral services for Mr. Tim Shelton West will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale. Interment will follow in Hill-Mathis Cemetery, Pitkin, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. West, 58, of Forest Hill, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Tim was a loving son, brother, a doting uncle, and an incredible friend to many. He was a retired Captain of the Alexandria Fire Department with over twenty-eight years of service. He enjoyed collecting books and had an extensive clock collection. He was a history buff and was passionate about politics. He loved cooking at the firehouse and at home. Most of all, Tim was outgoing and never met a stranger.
Tim lived and loved life to the fullest. He took pilot lessons in college and took his elderly Granny and her sister up for a spin, unbeknownst to the rest of the family. He went skydiving on his birthday for the first and last time. His sister was his partner in crime, and she would follow him anywhere. He endlessly teased his sister and younger cousins growing up and transferred that to his niece and nephew. To know Tim was to love Tim, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his parents, Charles and Betty West of Pitkin, Louisiana; one sister, Tammy Asmus (Gary) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one nephew, Keegan Asmus of Dallas, Texas; and one niece, Aidan Asmus of New York, New York.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Daniel Cloud, Lee Doyal, Josh Holloway, Mark Monroe, Patrick Searcy, and Paul Smith.
The family would like to thank Sarah McRight, Sondra Doyle, Jackie Moses, Abby Taylor, and Tessia Doyle for their exceptional care. They would also like to thank Daniel Cloud, Lee Doyal, and Mark Monroe for their unwavering support of Tim.
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service.
