Charles King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rush Funeral Home - Oakdale on Feb. 6, 2026.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Glenn King will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Lake Cove Baptist Church, with Reverends Ervin Goodman and Davey King officiating. Interment will follow in McCormick Cemetery, Turkey Creek, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. King, 71, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In the 1970s, he worked for Gifford Hill for several years before joining W.E. McDonald, where he remained a devoted employee for forty-five years. He specialized in pit operations, but because he could do it all, he was often referred to as a "One Man Dirt Crew." He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-four years, Nellie Evonne King; his parents, Burrel King, Sr. and Edith King; and one brother, Burrel King, Jr.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include four daughters, Kayla King (John) of Glenmora, Lisa King (Josh) of LeCompte, Sara King of Glenmora, and Ashley King (Joe) of Glenmora; one brother, Davey King (Sue) of Camden, Arkansas; one sister, Georgie Ann King Galbreath (Jeff) of Woodworth; eleven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A time of visitation will be held at Lake Cove Baptist Church on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Grice McDonald, Joe Coker, Josh Hawkins, John Turner, Gavin Taylor, Jaden Guillory, Owen Coker, and B.J. Carlin. Honorary pallbearers will be James Taylor, Greg Odom, Charles Ray Johnson, and Jamey McDonald.
