August 14, 1949 - January 10, 2025
Timmy Lee Powell, 75, of Nebo, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at Charles George VA Medical Center.
A native of Burke County, he was born August 14, 1949, to the late Robert Lee Powell and May Belle Webb Powell. He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Ted, Robert, Bill, and Clara; and a stepdaughter, Brenda.
Timmy was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He spent his whole life working as a mechanic as well as a truck driver. He enjoyed traveling across the country, and he made countless friends doing so. Following retirement, Timmy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as gardening and fishing. He believed in always staying busy and never giving up. He would do anything to help others and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Lewis Powell; two children, Timothy Powell (Lorrie) and Tammy Powell Davis (Jason); five grandchildren, Raylee, Adam (Leighann), Brittney (Alex), Haley, and Randy; two great-grandchildren, Gunner, Clyde, and Laken; and two siblings, David Powell and Kathy Powell Mace.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Burke Memorial Park.
