Timothy Joseph Baka

Timothy J. Baka was born October 9, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully in his home on February 22, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Tim graduated in 1980 from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck, New York. After graduation, Tim went to work on the Sedco oil rigs then joined the Maritime Administration as a Marine Surveyor. Over time, Tim advanced to working for the GBS Group and NDI as a Senior Marine Engineer. Throughout his career, Tim was able to see and explore the various places his work took him around the world.
He was a man of many hobbies and interests including creating stained glass works, woodworking and whittling, writing, drawing, and creating various collections. He had a deep love for reading, music, art, and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
Tim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cathy; his three daughters, Dianne, Lynda, and Melissa; his grandson, Jay; and his dogs, Teddy and Reggie. Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Joseph Baka.
Tim will be remembered for his hard work, corny jokes, and the memories he helped create with everyone he met. In lieu of a service, the family requests friends and family pet their dogs and think of fond memories of Tim.
