Timothy Patrick Bradley, 68, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, May 29, 2023, Memorial Day, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 12, 1955, in Charlevoix, the son of John “Jack” and Mary (Gallagher) Bradley.
After graduating from Charlevoix High School, Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., where he proudly served for four years, before being released from active duty as a Sergeant. Upon returning home he attended North Central Michigan College in Petoskey. On October 10, 1981, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Novotny, and they began their family together in Charlevoix.
Tim has had many hobbies and interests over his lifetime. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, playing sports, and watching his favorite teams from his beloved recliner. His real passion, however, was his work. He began his career at Will Flow in Charlevoix, then plant manager of Viatec. When the plant closed he stayed in the industry, working as a steel fabricator for DCL, which is now Bayshore Steel.
He was a hard worker, with a generous spirit and huge heart; but, it’s his humor and quick wit that many will miss most. He always had a way to make you smile and laugh no matter the situation, even at the very end.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Kathy Bradley; two children, Mary “Katie” Bradley (Philip Morris) of East Jordan, John Bradley of Charlevoix; six siblings, Laurie Bradley of Charlevoix, Lynne (Juan) Carbonell of Traverse City, Lawrence “Buck” Bradley (Beth Anzell) of Charlevoix, Thomas Bradley (Janna Wieland) of Charlevoix, Therese “Terri” Higgins of Tampa and Charlevoix and John Bradley of Charlevoix; 16 nieces and nephews; and many family members and close friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlevoix. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with a rosary at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice or the Charlevoix Food Pantry, 100 W. Hurlbut St., Charlevoix.
We also would like to express our gratitude to the nursing staff at Charlevoix hospital that cared for Tim throughout his long fight and for accommodating all 47 of his closest family members to see him off in true Bradley fashion. A very special thank you to Bernadette Green Cole and Dr. Catherine Wonski and to all that provided him with peace and comfort to the end, we are forever grateful for you.
Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. You can sign his online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
