Timothy Clark Obituary

Published by Curtis-Britch & Bouffard Funeral Homes - Newport on Jan. 21, 2009.
Timothy R. Clark
After a long and courageous battle of 15 years with a rare brain tumor, Tim Clark went home to be with the Lord on January 19, 2009. Tim was born on November 28, 1955, in Hartford, CT, to Marjorie (Kenworthy) and Melville Clark. He lived in Connecticut until the early 80’s when he moved to Vermont. He loved being a Vermonter and wouldn’t have considered living anywhere else.

On September 5, 1987, he married Jane (Lafleur) Quintal, who survives him. He is also survived by five children; William of Newport; Eric and his wife Ashley of Quincy, MA; Adam of Cleveland, TN; and Todd and Gina of West Charleston, VT. Other survivors include his father, Melville and wife Virginia of Ocala, FL; his brother David and wife Jan of Pittsburgh, PA; sisters Cindy Ober and husband Les of Torrington, CT; and Rebecca Antonacci and husband Frank of Somersville, CT. His in-laws who provided comfort and support during his illness include father-in-law Maurice Lafleur of Orleans; mother-in-law Rejeanne Leblond of Derby Line; sisters-in-law Joanne Williams and husband Andre of Orleans; Julie Jacobs and husband David of Holland; and brother-in-law Joe Lafleur and wife Audrey of Newport Center. Tim is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many brothers and sisters in Christ, including close friends Robert Guyer and Gregg and Julie Wood. Tim was predeceased by his mother Marjorie in 1987.

Tim was a strong proponent of Christian education and four of his children attended United Christian Academy in Newport, with three of them continuing their education at Christian colleges. Gina is currently a sophomore at UCA. Tim served on UCA’s board of directors from 1995 until 2007, when his health prevented him from continuing.

Tim was passionate about his job as General Manager at Metal Flex in Newport. In 1982, Barrie Hume decided to start his own company and hired Tim as his Sales Manager. Initially, Tim worked from his home in Connecticut and after a year moved to Vermont. Metal Flex was an important part of Tim’s life.

In addition to his family, Tim loved the Mustang he had restored. On sunny summer days, you could find Tim cruising in his ’66 Mustang, and it was often parked in front of The Brown Cow, his favorite lunch spot.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 23, from 6-8 p.m. at the Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church on the Quarry Road in Derby, VT, where the memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 24, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Glenn Saaman and Rev. Richard Whitehill officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Tim’s memory to United Christian Academy - Sports Program, 65 School St., Newport VT 05855.

We'll never forget the wonderful Clark Family reunion you hosted for all of us several years ago. My 89-year old father STILL talks about our Vermont trip on a regular basis! You truly made it a trip of a lifetime and we were so blessed to have a chance to get to know how terrific our Clark Cousins are. We'll never forget Tim....or your family! Jan Demas

The memories that I hold of Tim are filled with laughter and a Mustang! Tim helped me regain my faith in God when my daughter was diagnosed with leukemia. God Bless you for the wonderful man you are. Heaven truly has gained an angel.

Dear Jane and Family,
Sorry to hear of Tim's passing, but we all know and feel that he is in a better place with no pain. You have lots of wonderful memories to keep him near and dear to your hearts. I was very disappointed to have missed the services, but please know you were all in my thoughts and prayers. We were fortunate to have been able to visit our son, Jeremy, in Oklahoma, who just returned from a four month tour of duty in UAE.
God Bless!!

Dear Jane,
Hang on to all the happy memories of Tim, no one can take those from you, but best of all is the day you will see him again and he will be happy, whole and probably driving a Mustang somewhere!! He was such a big guy and had an even bigger heart. Our lives were blessed just knowing him, a wonderful brother in Christ. To Jane and the family:
Tim was such a wonderful and kind man. He was such a pleasure to work on printing projects with. Even when we ran into each other coming out of Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital after receiving treatment, his thoughts were not of himself. He was genuinely concerned for others. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Our prayers are with all of you, his family.

Tim was a friend of mine in High School. He lived down the street from me and got off the bus one stop before mine. He was a good guy then and remained so throughout his life. He will be missed.

Cindy and David, We grew up around the corner from each other but I don't remember Tim, maybe because of the age difference. It sounds as though your brother is now at peace after such a long battle. Les, we were in the same grade at school. With God he will give you strength to get through this.
