He was born on August 2, 1957, in Staunton to the late Burness Carlton and Loretta Nadine Thomas Clemmer.

He is survived by his brother, Thomas Carlton Clemmer (Helen); his sister, Anita Kay Clemmer; his nephew, Joseph Thomas Clemmer (Jeremy Hinkle); his niece, Rachel Kathleen Clemmer (Dustin Skillman); his special cousin, Peggy Knowles; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
