Timothy E. DuBois, 79, of Peru, Indiana, passed away on November 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 18, 1945, to Thomas and Ida (Wagoner) DuBois, Tim grew up around the small town of Macy, Indiana. He was a 1963 graduate of North Miami High School and continued his education at McMurray College in Abilene, Texas, before completing his degree at Manchester University, where he played football and served as co-captain. Tim later earned his master’s degree in education from St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In 1968, Tim began his long and influential teaching career at North Miami High School, where he taught physical education, health, and German. Over his 44 years at North Miami, Tim coached varsity football, wrestling, softball, track & field, and boys basketball. He also served as Athletic Director for 10 years.

A lifelong coach and mentor, Tim dedicated 51 years to coaching football and was co-founder of the Indiana Wishbone Association (IWA) Camp, where he helped shape generations of athletes and coaches. He was inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame in 2022 and proudly served as assistant coach of the 1993 Class 1A State Championship team. In recognition of his enduring impact, North Miami High School named its football field “Tim DuBois Field” in 2019.

Outside of coaching, Tim was a talented fastpitch softball player and served as catcher for numerous teams, including Denver Tavern, Club 14, Peru Merchants, East End Fuel, Dietzen’s Bakery, Maple McCarty, and the Circus City Clowns.

Since the school’s opening in 1961, Tim’s life and legacy have been deeply intertwined with North Miami High School. Except for his years away at college, he remained an active and devoted part of the North Miami community throughout his life.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Linda DuBois; daughter Ann (Sissy) Martin and husband Brian Martin of Peru, Indiana; son James (Jimmy) DuBois of Kokomo, Indiana; granddaughter Abigail (Abby) Martin of Peru, Indiana; two step-granddaughters, Rebecca Martin (Andrew) and Sara (Mark) Greene; and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Rosalie Weideman; brothers Robert (Bob) and Kay DuBois of Warsaw, Indiana, Donnie and Chris DuBois of Magnolia,Texas, and Dan (Mary) DuBois of Boulder, Colorado; sisters-in-law Sharon DuBois of Eugene, Oregon, Faithel DuBois of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Patricia (Pat) Gahs and husband Denny Gahs of Clearwater, Florida, and Kathy Kline of Peru, Indiana; and niece Erica Kline of Peru, Indiana, along with several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Ida DuBois; brothers Phil DuBois and Dave DuBois; sister Diane (DuBois) Burge; and brother-in-law Sam Baker.

Tim will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to teaching, coaching, and community—his passion for sports, his love for his students and players, and his unwavering commitment to North Miami High School. Above all, he cherished his family, whose love and support meant the world to him. Tim was proud of the many roles he played in life — coach, athletic director, teacher — but nothing filled his heart more than being known as Pa. His legacy will continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched.
