It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tim Egan, a beloved father, husband, and friend, who left us on October 5th. Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 24, 1967, he was an avid fisherman and dedicated family man whose love for life and selflessness touched everyone who knew him.
Tim is survived by his wife and his best friend of 40 years, Alene; their three children and their respective spouses, Marty and Belinda (Green) Egan, Brian and Sarah (Matson) Egan, and Carly and Adrian Herrera; his grandchildren, Seamus Egan and Brooke Egan; his siblings, Anne Egan, James Egan, Noreen Egan, and Kay Touhy; and many friends from his 34 years at the CTA. He joins his parents, Martin and Kathleen Egan, his siblings Veronica "Bonnie" O'Neill and Mary Szlak, and his Uncle Jack.
As Tim grew older, he found joy in the peacefulness of fishing. Whether he was casting a line at Kentucky Lake with his children, or sharing stories of the various fishing trips over the years, his love for the water was matched only by his love for his family. He taught his children the art of fishing, not just as a pastime, but as a way to bond, create memories, and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Tim would do anything for those he loved, always putting family first. Whether it was helping his kids with projects around their homes, offering words of encouragement, or simply being there with a listening ear, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel supported and valued. His home was a sanctuary of love, where everyone gathered, laughter echoed, and memories were made. Tim never missed his children's football games, wrestling meets, cross country invites, or Seamus's swimming classes. His dedication to his family even drove him to be a pace-setter for his daughter, Carly, as she trained for the Chicago Marathon.
Tim was known for his infectious laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering support for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his two beloved grandchildren, Seamus and Brooke, who were the light of his life over the last couple of years.
Tim may have cast his last line, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved and the lives he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Alene, I am so sorry for your loss.
I´m praying for you and your family.
I just found out about this yesterday and although I haven´t spoken with you since the wedding I have interacted countless times with Tim at work and we share the same love of family and fishing.
May God give you peace and strength.
Love to all in the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ.

We met him over the fence from across our yards. First neighbor to welcome us to our new home. Our kids loved him with all their hearts. They always called out to him from across our yard. Asking to play and swim in his pool. He was always willing to lend a hand with anything we needed help with. He was such a wonderful, caring, kind, loving man. We will miss his friendship and long conversations through the fence. The Triple A boys will miss you.

I was saddened to hear of the sudden loss of Tim. It has been a long time but I will never forget the many times my son, Vinny, enjoyed being at your house full of love and laughter.
My condolences to Alene and the entire family.
With thoughts and prayers,
Lynne Morelli ( Basso )
