Timothy Emery Obituary

On June 21, 2025, Timothy E. Emery was called home and entered into eternal rest at the age of 81. His faith was a guiding force throughout his life, shaping the way he lived, served, and cared deeply for others.

Tim was born on June 2, 1944, the son of Charles Emery and Lucile (LaShombe), and grew up in Waterville, New York. He graduated from Waterville Central School, where he built the foundation of a life marked by hard work, perseverance, and kindness. Some of his fondest childhood memories were spent with his parents and siblings at their family camp on the Black River in Boonville. It was there that his lifelong love of nature, fishing, and swimming took root.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as an Aviation Electronics Technician (Navigation) Petty Officer Second Class. His time in the Navy not only allowed him to travel the world but also prepared him for a meaningful 30-year career with New York Telephone Company, a job he loved.

On January 24, 1970, Tim married Sally Leach, and together they had two children, Jody and Robert. Though their marriage ended in 1991, they shared a lasting bond and continued to support each other with enduring care and friendship.

On June 10, 2000, Tim married Carol Swift. Together they shared a life of love and companionship, enjoying fellowship with their church community, traveling to places like Israel and Pennsylvania, and making treasured visits to Kentucky to see his twin brother Tom and sister-in-law Barb. Tim also lovingly embraced Carol's children, Chuck Getchell (Lori, passed) Cheryl and Luke Azzarito, and Chris and Lisa Getchell, who remember him with affection and gratitude.

Tim is survived by his children Jody Thomas (Dena) and Robert Emery (Lindsay); his beloved grandchildren Benjamin, Sophie, Alexandra, Elayna, Jacob, and Olivia; step-grandchildren Charles, Andrew, Brandon, Mindy, Shane, Emily, and Sam; and step-great-grandchildren Brody, A.J., Zakery, Kody, Ashlaya, Kaylee, Lily, Josh, and Kallie; his twin brother Thomas Emery (Barb); sisters Patricia Emery and Teresa Mills (John); His sister-in-law Theresa Emery and his cherished nephews and niece-Paul, Jeffrey, Theresa, and Daniel. He was predeceased by his brother Charles "Jeff" Emery and his sister Mary Emery.

Tim found joy in the simple, meaningful parts of life: fishing, being outdoors, reading the Bible, watching a good ball game, feeding the ducks, his daily puzzles and spending time with those he loved. His grandchildren filled him with great joy, and he took great pride in his role as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and husband.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to his doctors Randy J. Czternastek, Dr. Atul Butala, Dr. Amy Gorczynski, special friend Pastor Linda Nasby, The Abraham House in Rome, Hospice, and Chaplain Wally for their compassionate care and presence, which brought Tim comfort and peace in his final days.

A life well lived, grounded in faith, love, and quiet strength-Tim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m., at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment at Carr Cemetery, Marcy, will be at the convenience of the family.
