Timothy Gupton Obituary

Mr. Timothy Wayne Gupton Sr., 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 28, 1947, in Vance County, NC. Timothy was the middle child born to the late Thelbert and Stella Gupton. Tim graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and spent most of his career as an accountant and CFO. He was continuously charitable throughout his life giving his time and energy to many board of directors and other organizations. He lived his Christian faith and shared Jesus' love with everyone he met. A faithful husband and father, Tim, enjoyed spending any of his time away from work with his family. He traveled all over the world and never missed a gymnastic event or a soccer game. Tim loved to work in his yard and his woodworking shop and shared his crafts with many people. After his retirement, Tim spent time travelling with his wife, Susan. Together, they enjoyed spending time with each other and with friends. They could also be found at home working on a new jigsaw puzzle and watching their favorite TV show, Andy Griffith. Tim is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane Gupton Morgan (Jim); his son, Timothy Wayne Gupton, Jr. (Sydney); four grandchildren, TJ and Julia Morgan, and Kyler and Brady Gupton; and two brothers, Thelbert Gupton Jr. (Chris) and Steve Gupton (Joyce).
The family invites you to the Celebration of Life in honor of Tim to be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Calvary West Church, 136 Medical Drive, Bermuda Run, NC, 27006 with Pastor Ryan Showalter officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to YMCA Camp Hanes at www.ymcanwnc.org. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com

A great man has been called home. He was as close to a brother as I ever had and I loved him dearly. His last words to me via text pretty much say it all, God is good! So was Tim.
