Timothy E Haggerty, 81 of Sayre, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on August 16th, 2025. He was born on May 21st, 1944, in Sayre, Pennsylvania. A son of the late Edward and Mary Haggerty. He was a 1963 graduate of Sayre high school and went on for two more years to electrical school at Williamsport Tech.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sonia Haggerty, his daughters: Shannon (Harold) Spiess of Bath, NY; Lora Finnerty of Ulster, PA, a son, Timothy Haggerty of Texas, his sisters: Sharon Ripley (Tom Jack) of Chemung, NY, Maureen (Neil) Groff on Monroe, Georgia, his brothers: Mark (Bo) of Waverly, NY, Pat (Diane) Haggerty of Denver, NC, granddaughters: Ashley (Corey) Carnrike of Ulster, PA; Katie (Ken) Miller of Sayre, PA; Jordan (Andrew Rose) Finnerty of Endicott, NY; Abigail Spiess of Bath, NY, 11 great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Sandra (Louie) Struski.
Tim was predeceased by his parents Edward and Mary Haggerty and a brother Shawn Haggerty.
Tim was a proud U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was drafted in 1965 and sent to Athens, Greece as a security guard for the Army from 1966-1968. He was employed by the Sayre Borough for 28 years and retired when he was 62 years old.
Tim loved spending time with family and watching sports, especially football. He was an athlete in high school, where he participated in football, wrestling, and track and field. He was especially proud of his accomplishment of making the men's track mile-relay team that traveled to Philadelphia, PA, where they placed 3rd in the State Championship. He loved to spend time taking car rides and was the sweetest, most loving man you could know, always putting others first.
