Timothy "Charley" James, age 48, of Ringsted, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at his home.

Memorial Mass is 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. Charley will be buried beside his twin brother in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas. Visitation is from 9:30 - 10:30 AM, Thursday, at the church in Pocahontas before the Mass time. Powers Funeral Home of Pocahontas, Iowa is handling arrangements.

Timothy Charles James was born a younger twin on March 17, 1977, in Mankato, Minnesota to William Robert James and Barbara Joyce (Gunn) Weum. Charley graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1995 and continued his education at Gem City College in Quincy, IL, completing a certification in Horology, the art of making, fixing and restoring clocks and watches. Charley returned to Iowa and began his career with Nelson Jewelry in Spencer. He loved being a part of their team and helping customers with their precious clocks and watches. Charley settled in Ringsted and continued to work for Nelson Jewelry until his passing, ending over 25 years of service.

Charley was a member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and participated in Bible studies over the years. Charley was not only a talented craftsman, but a skilled musician. He played many instruments, including the piano, guitar and violin. He also loved his hound dog, Doc, who was often found by his side. In Ringsted, Charley was a regular at the Monday lunch provided at the American Legion where he loved the comradery among the locals. Many knew Charley for his kindness, knowledge, love of conversation and willingness to lend a helping hand. He always had a story to tell and wisdom to share. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include his parents, William and Jan James of Milford, Iowa; brother, David M. Weum of Waterloo, Iowa, and sister, Keli King of Sheldon, Iowa, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who he cared for deeply.

Charley was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara J. Weum; twin brother, Patrick R. James; brother, Dale L. Weum, and his grandparents.
