Timothy McGinnis

Timothy John McGinnis passed peacefully on August 5, 2025, with a smile on his lips and a glimpse of heaven in his countenance. Tim was born April 5, 1960, in Inglewood, CA, adopted at birth by loving parents, Edward Owens and Evangeline Lorraine "Laurie" (Chambers) McGinnis. At the age of 4 years, Tim's mother died, and his father remarried soon thereafter, blessing Tim's life with another mother, Ann Marion Dixon, who would love and care for him throughout his life. An electrician by trade, Tim was a hard worker, demanding excellence of himself and others. He was a DIY kind of guy, always willing to learn new things and pitch in to help others. Tim's love of the outdoors brought him from his home in Riverside, CA to Utah often. In 2020 he decided to make his visits permanent and moved to Cedar City, where he made a house a home and welcomed family and friends, both old and new. Tim loved without restraint, God, family, friends, and country. He also loved mountain biking, snowboarding, photography, playing guitar, singing, and could be found doing one or more, sometimes all of these, daily. In each of these ways, Tim ministered to others, sharing his faith in and love of God and Jesus Christ. Tim is survived by his daughter, Jessica Lynn, brother, Kevin, sisters, Beth Stogner and Deidre (Michael) Durrant, and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. We love you, Tim....God be with you 'til we meet again. A viewing will be held on Saturday August 23, 2025 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary.
