Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Shoreview Funeral Chapel on Dec. 30, 2025.
Timothy Joseph Murray of
Crystal, Minnesota, born November 11, 1952, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Saint Therese Hospice at Saint Odilia in
Shoreview, Minnesota. He was 73 years-old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Kay (Matejcek) and John "Jack" H. Murray; his aunts and uncles, Margaret Elaine (Murray) Hautman and Thomas "Tuck" Hautman; Evelyn and Edward Matejcek.
Timothy is survived by his brothers, Thomas Murray (Mary), John R. Murray, Matthew Murray (Theresa), and Joseph Murray (Sue); his sister, Molly Ferm (David); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Following his death his beloved 13-year-old Siamese cat, Sammy, was successfully adopted through Green Acres Animal Rescue in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
Timothy ("Tim", "Timmy") was a highly talented and tender-hearted keyboardist, composer, digital music producer, brother, cousin and uncle who passed away following a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Shortly before onset of his illness he had completed his new album, Sans Vox, and a new version of his first album, THE ZOA FACTOR-REMASTERED. Just weeks before his death Tim was excited when informed that his albums were scheduled to be released in January 2026.
All of Tim's songs reflect his personal character; he had a loving heart and a tender soul; he was introverted, philosophical and deeply reflective; and he had an amazing encyclopedic knowledge of music.
Tim independently composed and produced two albums and created the associated artwork himself. He remarkably plays all the instruments on his albums "virtually" through use of advanced MIDI-based (keyboard) technologies. He was a meticulous composer who added complexity, depth and texture to his works through a variety of intricate musical methods and techniques. Sometimes he surprises the listener with clever use of non-traditional approaches such as the morse code that plays in the background throughout one of his songs.
Despite his introverted nature, Tim spread joy to others during his life by sharing the sweetness of his heart and soul through his music. Following his death Tim hopes to continue sharing his joy with the world. In the days just before his death Tim said, "I just want people to hear my music".
