Tim Nolan's Life Celebration
Born August 30th, 1948, Tim's deepest roots reach back to his childhood years on Pittsburgh's East End, across a closely knit chain of neighborhoods -- members of his lively and loving immediate and extended family, and a bevy of close friends all within walking distance. During these early years Tim's parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins and childhood friends built ever faithful bonds of love and commitment to one another.
"East End map seared in his brain.
Which friend lived where? What mischief reigned?"
Tim attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and went on to attend the Connelley Vocational High School Electrical Wiring program. There his leadership skills emerged as he served on Student Council. In 1966 Tim met the love of his life, Kate. Two years later he was drafted into the U.S. Army, and proudly served in the Signal Corp in Vietnam. He enjoyed "lifetime memberships" in the VFW, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans of America. The stories of his overseas service are a testimony to Tim's leadership, and love of helping others to be joyful -- quite similar to the antics and resourcefulness one might see in a "Mash" rerun. He received an honorable discharge on his 21st birthday, 1969. Tim and Kate married four years later, making a lifelong, unwavering commitment to one another. Needless to say, Kate's late parents, brother and sisters, and their children, all love and embrace Tim as their own.
The best blessing ever came along in 1973, the birth of Tim and Kate's son, Pat. In 2009 Tim had the honor of walking Pat's lovely wife-to-be, Marie, down the aisle.
"Love of family -- Every One!
So very proud of Pat, his son.
Our little family, we are four:
As, Dear Marie adds so much more."
Pat describes his Dad as "a man who sparks genuine laughter". Tim has always loved doing just about anything with friends and family -- his love of life, his love of music, and his love of people widely known to fuel a great time for all.
"Friends of old or those brand new,
you're simply loved cause you are you."
In 1973 Tim attended the St. Charles Kitchens Design Program launching a 35 year career in this and related fields, a career built upon his unwavering character and honesty, affording Tim the opportunity to lend his creativity and technical ability with, yes, his love of others. His network of equally talented friends collected while working and "playing" together proved to be a lifelong treasure. And, of course, on the many occasions family and close friends called upon Tim to guide them through their own special projects, he reveled in the chance to enjoy their company as he went about his work.
"Kitchens, bathrooms, living space,
He shares his gifts to light your place."
In 2008, Tim retired for health reasons. Well, you just can't keep a good man down. He immediately became the family travel agent. Tim and Kate enjoyed many adventures to Florida, a 2013 trip to Ireland for their 40th Anniversary, and jaunts to all the places along Pat and Marie's life journey.
"Tim is a good man!" His is a grateful spirit!
