Timothy Rapp, 74, of Aberdeen, affectionately known as "Tim," passed away peacefully at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township, New Jersey, on October 27, 2024. Born on May 29, 1950, in Passaic, New Jersey. Tim was the beloved son of David and Doris (Meehan) Rapp. He grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, and moved to the Matawan area 40 years ago.
Tim proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police officer. After his service, he had a successful career as a Machinist at International Flavors and Fragrances in Hazlet. As a skilled carpenter he later owned and operated TMC Construction for many years. He dedicated his time to the Matawan Fire Department as a volunteer fireman years ago and was an active member of the Keyport-Matawan Elks #2030. Tim was passionate about giving back to his community, and after retirement, he devoted many hours to the American Legion Post 23 in Keyport, where he was a life member. Tim was instrumental in encouraging, and inspiring his beloved Joyce Bengyel to launch her company "Tastefully Yours by Joyce." He dedicated countless nights to the business- roasting pigs, cooking turkeys and unwavering support. Tim and Joyce truly embodied the spirit of partnership.
An avid fisherman, golfer, and sports enthusiast, Tim was especially known for his loyalty to the New York Giants. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and above all, treasured the time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren. As a grandfather Tim was a jokester and loved to make them laugh. He would bring his grandchildren to local playhouses, and Keansburg's boardwalk, always stopping at Heidelberg for a hotdog, Shirley Temples, and a cold Miller Lite. Tim will be deeply missed, always loved, and forever remembered.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, David and Doris (Meehan) Rapp. Tim is survived by his partner of 33 years, Joyce Bengyel, and her children, whom he embraced as his own: Lorene Walters, Fred Bush, Jackie Rupinski, her husband Jim, Tracey Royle and her husband Scott. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Greg, Michelle, Kaylynn, Travis, Julia, James, Katie, Brook, and Sadie, as well as five adoring great-grandchildren. Tim is also survived by his siblings, Dave Rapp and Mona Helmhold.
In accordance with Tim's wishes, he was privately cremated.
