Timothy Brian Roop

Abingdon, VA - Timothy Brian Roop, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on December 19, 2024, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. Tim was a passionate sports enthusiast, with football holding a special place in his heart. He found joy in spending time with family, fishing, traveling, cooking and savoring good food. One of his favorite pastimes was driving through the mountains with his wife, where he felt at peace surrounded by nature’s beauty and reminisced in his favorite childhood memories. 

Tim loved his family and friends fiercely and would do anything for those he cared for. His parents, wife and children could always count on him to take care of their needs in any way he could. He adored his grandson and couldn’t resist surprising him with new hot wheels almost every time he saw him. 

Tim is survived by his devoted parents, Harley “Cotton” Roop and Doris, his loving wife, Tonia Roop; his two sons, Johnny Roop and Brian Roop (Anne); his stepdaughter, Aleah McFarlane, (Alan); his step-grandson, Zephyr McFarlane; and special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Tim’s warmth, love for adventure, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed but cherished forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Visitation with the family will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, in Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bristol, VA with Pastor Les Ketron officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Roop, Johnny Roop, Alvin DeBoard, Randy Pennington, Jacob Hubbard, and Alan McFarlane.
