Timothy Ian Vanderstoel, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2025, at the age of 26. Born on September 23, 1998, Tim spent much of his life between Florida and North Carolina, recently returning to Florida just three weeks ago to begin a new chapter close to family and friends.
Tim was a vibrant soul whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched countless lives. He had a deep love for travel, exploring destinations across the United States, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates. Whether experiencing new cultures or simply enjoying the journey, Tim approached every trip with curiosity and joy.
A high school graduate of Sonrise School, Tim proudly earned his High School diploma and graduated as his 2016 class valedictorian. He loved playing sports including basketball, cross-country and baseball. He then pursued his first two years toward an Associate of Arts degree at Polk State College. Most recently, he worked at Gordons in warehouse operations, where his coworkers knew him as reliable, uplifting, and always willing to lend a hand.
Sports were one of Tim's greatest passions. He was a devoted fan of the National Hockey League, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Tampa Bay Lightning, and his all-time favorite player, Sidney Crosby. College football Saturdays often found him cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, reveling in each win and sharing many games with family and friends.
Timothy's enthusiasm for superheroes, particularly Batman, was unmatched. He loved attending Comicons, immersing himself in the colorful worlds of comic book heroes and the communities that celebrated them. Music was also close to his heart, and his playlists reflected his wide-ranging tastes.
Friends remember Timothy for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and thoughtful insights. He was the one who could be counted on for a funny remark at just the right moment or a deep, reflective conversation when it mattered most. Loyal to those he cared for, Tim valued friendship as a bond to be nurtured and cherished.
Tim is survived by his loving parents, Carol Kim and Dwayne Shelton, and Glenn and Toni Rose Vanderstoel and by sisters Ali and Evan Lagueruela, Amber Shelton, Olivia Shelton, and Savannah Vanderstoel, by his Grandparents Joe and Sara Bickford, Rudy and Carolyn Vanderstoel, and Norman and Mabel Shelton. He is also survived by his Uncle Bill Bickford, along with his cousins Brandon Beard, Daniel Stanzione, and Kerwin Bickford, and his Uncle and Aunt Tony and Donna Breault, along with his cousins Riley and Emily Ann Breault. He leaves behind countless friends, especially Jacob and Tylan Carroll, Norman and Angel Barrow, and Jaylen Gousby, colleagues, and extended family members who will forever hold his memory close.
Though his time with us was far too short, Timothy's life was marked by joy, adventure, and an unwavering love for those around him. His spirited personality impacted many around him and his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Timothy's life was a gift to all those who knew him, and his memory will remain in the thoughts and hearts of many.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." - Psalm 34:18
