Timothy A. "Woody" Woods, 60, of Monrovia, was released from his earthly pain on Sunday, July 13, 2025, while in the care of IU Health Hospice in Bloomington. He was born in Indianapolis on April 3, 1965, to the late Leonard Lee and Wanda Pauline (Harless) Woods. One of two children, Tim, began his journey in Anderson, then relocated to Mooresville in the 2nd grade. As a teenager he moved to his family's home in Pennington Gap, VA to help his mother take care of his grandmother, where he proudly graduated from high school with the class of 1984. Upon returning home to Indiana and a talented carpenter by nature, Tim secured employment with Gettum Construction, AT Dream Builders, and most recently Sunco Construction. In 1993 Tim reconnected with a childhood friend, Paula, and the two of them attended a Christmas Dance for their first date. The pair fell hard and fast for each other and spent 31 years as soulmates, with lives full of love and laughter, working together as a team to provide for their three children. His guilty pleasure was regularly scaring the bejesus out of her, once hiding in the bedroom closet, and jumping out at her. A man with a truly good heart, Tim continuously worried about those around him, going above and beyond to see that their needs were met. He loved hunting and fishing, frequently spending time at the family cabin in Bedford with his dad, uncles, and his family. He was known to have a variety of wild animals as pets, including squirrels, racoons, a ball python, and this connection to wildlife enabled him to hand feed visiting birds. Fun loving, upbeat and always one for a good time, Tim was a past member of the Mooresville Eagles and the VFW Post 1111. A dedicated hard worker, Tim, passed this trait to his kids, along with instilling strong morals by actively teaching and consistently demonstrating positive values through his words and actions. Always positive, he remained strong and fearless all the way to the end of his battle with cancer. Leaving this world too soon, Tim leaves a lasting legacy of love and laughter and will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. Tim leaves behind his best friend Paula J. (VanLue) Jones of Greenwood; children, Travis Woods of Plainfield, Larissa Woods (Michael Kessinger) of Indianapolis, and Silas Woods of Mooresville; sister, Connie Woods of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Kalynn Woods, Michael Kessinger, Jr, along with twin girls on the way. Funeral and Cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to Light Memorial & Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 4:00pm until a Celebration of Life Memorial Service begins promptly at 6:00pm, and Pastor Nancy Nyland will officiate.
