Timothy Wright

Timothy Lane Wright, a resident of Georgetown, Texas, died on May 18, 2025. He was born on January 19, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Alma and J.O. Wright. He and his sister Stephanie grew up in the South Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas.
Tim graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1963 and went on to get a BA from North Texas State University in 1967. He studied law at Baylor Law School, and while there was an editor of the Baylor Law Review, published two legal articles, and worked as a briefing clerk for a firm in Waco.
His professional life as an attorney included 32 years as a sole practitioner, 20 years of which were focused on real estate, banking, and probate. He worked as a judge of Williamson County later in his career and in 2006 applied for a grant that initiated the county's DWI-Drug Court. Many have gone through the program successfully over the years, and graduates have described it as a "court of grace" and have said that the staff encouraged and believed in them when no one else did. Tim became a mentor and friend to many of the graduates. He later went on to create the county's Veteran Treatment Court. In 2014, he received the Judge John Creuzot Award for Innovation and Leadership
Tim was dedicated to his family and raised three children in Georgetown – Todd, Delane, and Rebekah. He and his wife and soulmate Lisa had many adventures during their 40 years together, including hunting and fishing all over Texas, church mission trips, and travel all over the U.S. They have attended Grace Bible Church together for over 15 years and have made so many dear friends along the journey. Tim was known by many as a true giver, helping people through their toughest times with his empathy, insight, and no-judgment attitude.
Tim contracted the polio virus when he was 18 months old, but anyone who knew him understood that this never stopped him from doing anything he set his mind to do. He was an avid hunter and fisher, voracious reader, creative writer, and accomplished public speaker. He developed several subdivisions, owned ranches, and dabbled in the quarter horse and cutting horse business. He was known by friends as a "trader" – trading horses, trailers, boats, RVs, golf carts, cattle, and more.
He is survived and dearly missed by his wife Lisa Wright; his daughter Rebekah Daniel and son-in-law Richard; his daughter-in-law Patti Wright; his daughter Delane Haro and son-in-law Anthony; sister Stephanie Elliott; grandchildren Audrey Hickox, Nicholas Wright, Leah Wright, Gillian Haro, and Alana Haro; brothers and sisters-in-law Kerry and Lynn Williams, Janna and George Jackson, and Steve and Deborah Hamilton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Todd Wright.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on June 4th at Grace Bible Church of Georgetown.
