Tina Fay Hackney, 50, of Red House passed away Friday, October 17, 2025. A 1993 graduate of Buffalo High School, she received her Bachelor of Sciences degree from Mountain State University, and was working toward her ultimate goal of a PhD in psychology from Marshall University. Tina was a passionate writer and dedicated angler. As an advocate for laughter, she believed in the power of positivity and hope. She was a strong advocate against domestic violence. Her mission was to spread joy and understanding through her words.
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:10-12. Tina was strong in her faith, and served as a Music Minister for many years. When she wasn't found writing or casting her line, she could be found singing her heart out to her favorite tunes.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dwane Lee Garrison; and a niece, Destiny Mulholland.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Chad Hackney, the man of her dreams; her children, Savannah (Jacob) Surrett of Delbarton, Isiah Snyder of Bluefield, Jeffrey Noah Hackney of Princeton, Evan Hackney of Lewisburg, and Owen Hackney and Rius Hackney, both of Princeton; grandchildren, Chrystina, Michael, and Gideon; mother, Sarah Garrison; sisters, Melissa Garrison, and Crystal Garrison, both of Buffalo; as well as extended family and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, her body was cremated. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later time. Tina's final act of kindness was to give the gift of life to others through organ donation.
