Obituary published on Legacy.com by Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Aug. 24, 2022.
Tina M. Wright, 53, of Hazel Green, WI, formerly of Taylor, WI completed her earthy journey. Let's face it folks, she passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Now did she always get it right? A big, no. She started Spanish class 4 times and still can't speak Spanish, tried playing guitar numerous times, along with drums and they both sit quietly in the basement, and sorry about the piano lessons mom and dad. Forget about spelling vacume...vaccumu and the usage of accept and except. Nevertheless, she did get it right on most important things in life. A private family service will be held.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, October 8 th from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Banfield's Swiss Haus in Cuba City, WI. In memory of Tina, all attendees are asked to wear their favorite sports team attire or school colors. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Tina was born on August 11, 1969 in DeForest, WI, daughter of Werner & Diane (Madigan) Haas. She was raised most of her life on a sheep farm, which wasn't so baaaaad. She loved going to school in rural Taylor, WI and it was there she fell in love with basketball and the support of a rural community. This was an important role in her becoming a teacher. A job that will become a passion as she always felt that she learned way more from her students than she gave. She graduated from Taylor High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in teaching from St. Mary's University of Minnesota and a Master's Degree from UW-Platteville. She taught over 1,253 students at Southwestern Community School District from 1992 to 2022. While at Southwestern, she helped start some timeless traditions. Her deep love and respect for veterans, getting students start in one of the annual school programs in the area. One of the biggest highlights was sleeping on the school roof in 1992 to help raise money for the Tri State Vietnam Memorial, to seeing that Southwestern raise money for the Honor Flight. Helping implement with the Dubuque Dragonboat Association, annual food drives and quiz bowls, trips to Washington D.C. and Chicago. There was nothing better than a crazy costume and a practical joke. She always said, "We might not have a stoplight, but where else can you buy a hog feeder and a loaf of bread as the same time at the local Gassers. I'm staying right here". It was while she was at Southwestern, she did find the "Wright" guy. She married John Wright from Cuba City on October 1st, 1999. Yes, she did not hold it against him that he was from Cuba City, even through the bitter school rivalry. They both hit it right again, raising 2 daughters, Kate & Haley and couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments at UWP, both pursuing engineering degrees. Being a parent and a wife was the best/hardest job that one could ever have. "I loved it and I hope that I have left a lasting legacy of working hard and playing harder. To run around 3rd base and slide into home, wearing your last pair of clean underwear, with a smile on your face and the joy of a kids". CEW will always have a special place in her spiritual journey and will always be thankful for the meaningful experiences that she had with people that had a common sense of faith. Tina loved gardening, biking, traveling, having one cool car and motorcycle (an obsession with Evil Knievel), golfing, coaching basketball, volunteering for the community, but most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Tina is survived by her husband, John; 2 daughters: Kate & Haley Wright, all of Hazel Green, WI; her parents, Werner & Diane Haas of Taylor, WI; a sister, Renee Haas of Blair, WI; a mother-in-law, Joan Wright of Cuba City, WI; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Wilber Wright.
"Throughout cancer, I was given time to say goodbye in ways that were rewarding and the chance to see how much one meant to others and say goodbye. I was blessed."
In lieu of plants, flowers, benches, chimes and mementos, a Tina M. Wright Memorial Fund has been established. Seriously, we need scholarships! Beverage money is a possibility for all that knew me, but they can make a small sacrifice. Likewise, I will not be coming back as an eagle or a cardinal, I'm thinking a squirrel or raccoon. I wasn't that majestic. Quit crying – Be a squirrel! Memorials may be mailed to Haudenshield Funeral Home, c/o: Tina Wright Family, BOX 825, Cuba City, WI 53807.
A special thank you goes to the entire team an MercyOne. You all have a special place in our hearts. I have always said, "It's strange to say cancer has become a true blessing in my life. If one wants to see love & compassion, step onto an oncology floor. You will see nurses with scrubs that truly have the wings of angels. It isn't until one faces death does one have a meaningful impact on saying goodbye to those they loved. I was given that time to say goodbye."
