Todd Daniels Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 24, 2024.
With deepest love and sadness, we announce the passing of husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Todd Robert Daniels. Todd was born November 8th, 1958 in Elgin, Illinois and left us the morning of November 20th, 2024. Born to Altys and Mavis Daniels, Todd was the third of five children. Todd is survived by his wife of 41 years Victoria Daniels, children Peter (Theresa) Daniels, Laura (Zach) Bennett, Maggie (Justin) Granger, his three grandchildren, Libby, Finn and Penny Daniels, siblings Janice (Dennis) Quinlan, Ellen Currie, Ross (Denise) Daniels and Lee (Mae) Daniels and mother-in-law, Rae Ann Yost. He also leaves behind a large extended family of Daniels, Mueller and Yost in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews; relationships he cherished greatly.

Todd deeply loved his childhood in Elgin where he made many lifelong friends. Graduating Elgin High in 1977, he attended Eastern Illinois University where he (you will notice a trend) made many more friends and attained a Bachelor's in Marketing. In 1983, Todd married the love of his life, Victoria Yost Daniels. Over the next few years they relocated from Mundelein, IL to Sanford, FL, and eventually landed in Plano, TX. Todd and Vicki built a home where his family was able to grow and thrive, always buffeted with his deep passion for family, excellent advice, and love.

Todd as a businessman was a sight to behold. He turned his natural smarts, curiosity, and charisma into a highly successful 40+ year career in telecommunication sales. He prided himself on the relationships he formed over the years, and the friends his team, customers and peers became.

Todd was many things to many people. He was a loving husband to his wife, a fierce advocate and champion for his children, a devoted friend, a valued business partner, but more than anything he was a dynamic storyteller and communicator. Rarely would you walk away from a conversation not having learned something new, gained a fresh perspective, or had a belly laugh. Frequently it was all three.

His distinctive booming and boisterous voice could easily command a room. It was not difficult to find him in a crowd - you followed either the voice or found the circle of people hanging on his every word.

He had a deep and abiding passion for music, with an exhaustive knowledge of rock and blues artists. He also found joy in art and nature, where he showed his softer side making sure the bird feeders were always full and the succulents were watered just the right amount.

Later in life, Todd and Vicki purchased their dream home on Lake Cypress Springs in East Texas. He gave family and friends many cherished memories of peaceful mornings, sunset boat rides, holiday celebrations, and late-night conversations around the fire pit.

In February 2020, Todd was diagnosed with an aggressive kidney cancer. He attacked this illness with the same intensity he overcame other obstacles in his life. He earned with grit and determination what he called 5 "bonus years" where he took many wonderful trips and enjoyed life to the fullest with the people he loved most.

Near the end, Todd left us laughing with loving stories and comforting words. On his last day he enjoyed a wonderful and lively dinner with his family at the hospital, beaming with pride and contentment. With Vicki by his side, he passed early in the morning of November 20th, 2024. We miss him dearly, but are comforted knowing he is free from his illness and reunited with his heavenly loved ones.

Todd's greatest joys were his family and making memories. Let us continue his memory with many long stories, jokes, and advice to help those around us.

I met Todd at Larsen Jr. High. He always had a smile, warmth, and quick wit. When we were 19ish, went to see Eric Clapton at the Chicago Stadium..If memory serves, Joe Brooks, Scott Gudeman, Jeff Wisser, and I were the Fearsome Foursome. Same summer, same group, headed to Alpine Valley for the Allman Brothers. I'll let your imaginations determine if we had fun! I'll always remember his smile and booming laughter. God bless the Daniels' clan. Jerry Powers

I first met Todd when he called on us at Century Telephone in Monroe, La. From that time on I enjoyed a lasting friendship. He changed companies over the years but he was always the same person and friend. I talked with him several times after I retired and he was still enjoying working. He celebrated my retirement from Century and many years later he called when my wife Bettye passed. Though I can't be in Elgin I celebrate with the family the life of a good friend.

The look in his eye when he told me he found the love of his life and had proposed to Vicki. The smile he had was as contagious that day as the day of their wedding. Todd and I were in student government at EIU together and I was blessed to be a bridesmaid at their wedding.

Our hearts ache for Vicki, the children and grandchildren and everyone that knew him. Thoughts and prayers with you all.

Todd is the type of person you´d expect to deliver as long as Jimmy Carter. He was a good and kind person, when I knew him many, many years ago. It isn´t surprising that everything he was then was still intact throughout his life. He was a good man. A kind man. A genuine man. What a lucky family you are to have had Todd as a husband, a father, a grandfather. A friend.
All my love to the family.

Like myself, Todd lived on Enterprise St in Elgin. When we were still quit young his family moved to another part of the city. I can remember me and my siblings and possibly other neighbors put on a farewell parade for them. Todd and I remained friends through high school. Very sad news to hear and my thoughts are with the family.

A few years ago, Todd and Vicki stayed with us as they traveled to or from visiting family in IL. Rick and Vicki had called it a night, while Todd and I stayed up talking. I will never forget our conversation. Todd was well aware of his prognosis. However, he spoke of doing all he could to lengthen his time with his love, Vicki, and his treasured children and grands. He spoke of his great concern for Vicki´s well being. He expressed great joy of his son and daughters, as well as those they brought into the Daniels´ family. Todd fought back tears with his heartfelt words and I remember thinking what an awesome man he is. His emotions were raw and I felt honored to hear his demonstration of deep love for his family.
Rick and I are grieving the loss of this dear man. We love him and will never forget his vibrant personality. We are so sorry for Vicki and their children and grandchildren. Our prayers are with y´all as you attempt to navigate this journey with such a tremendous loss.
Peace and love to y´all.

Todd was one of the greatest men I´ve ever known. Great friend and colleague. Photos below are from a trip to Todd and Vicki´s lake house in July 2023 and yes Todd was sharing words of wisdom as we admired the lakeside view. Priceless. He´ll be dearly missed.

Todd´s team was collocated with my sales team at Nortel. He showed more respect and kindness than my own manager, and have been forever grateful of his modeling of a great sales VP!

My first memory of Todd was when we met him at their family home in Plano! Todd was in his green silk pajamas! He greeted us with open arms and a glass of wine. From that day on we were always treated as family! We loved Todd dearly and will miss him very much!
