Todd made an impact in his local community in many ways though in particular to the clients we served within Tactile Medical. He was thorough and focused on ensuring the clients he served were comfortable with using their device to treat their chronic condition though also heard. He was a huge advocate and demonstrated empathy and compassion which was so admirable. He will be missed by many. I pray for his family during this difficult time.

Todd was my forever adventurer. He surely loved heights. From the time he was two climbing up a ladder with our dog Joshua holding onto his diaper to walk across the beams which made his father and his grandfather run like crazy before he could fall. Thank the Lord he didn't as his father backed Joshua to the ladder and my father grabbed him down. His Dad had him in his arms as he climbed back down. Asked why and his answer would always be like you (Daddy) and being a carbon copy of his grandfather in looks and hair color smiling at his Grandfather. Later it would be rock climbing with no rope scaring me or his yelling at a driver of a Viper who I took off at the light. Was sure he would be on the pavement if he didn't come back in my Escort. He was tickled that Mom took a Viper, but then I never did stay at a green light waiting for others to move. I can remember memories like that and so many others. Like me, he loved snakes especially the Virginia Black snake which he called Atilla. Love you son. Mom

Todd was my wife and my workout coach 20 years ago. Always appreciated his encouragement and positive attitude. We met with him at his apartment on Hussey Ct. in Newport News at 6:00 AM. Nancy and I always appreciated his coaching. Lord, I lift up the Deforest family to you. Please give them the peace that goes beyond all understanding. In Jesus name, Amen

Coach Todd was my lifting and conditioning coach all through high school. Whether I was running track or playing football, and even after I graduated high school, I always knew I can go to him for advice. He was an excellent coach, and I would have to say, a great friend as well. You will be missed by so many.

As an Athletic Director ,there could not have been a more important part to our success at Poquoson High school than our beloved strength coach Todd. Todd became someone that did not work for me on my staff, but worked with me over our 18 years together. He was much more than a colleague but a true friend. He had the unique way of helping every student athlete at our school ,no matter how talented or how motivated. He helped me daily solve problems before they ever happened. He helped me know the pulse of every part of the athletic program, every day. We shared school knowledge every day but my favorite part was sharing our struggles and successes in our private lives. We shared favorite spots hike in Richmond and other places around our great state. He traveled with our baseball team on multiple state tournament trips and that time was so enjoyable. He kept our entire team in stitches playing trivia as we were stranded on the side of 29 in a broken down charter bus. He had an uncanny knack for knowing what student athletes needed. A kick in the but to work harder or a listening ear to help heal a tough day. I will forever cherish my memories with Todd !
Heaven got a great teammate. Coach Bennett and the Bennett family (Paula , Cole, and Zach) send out deepest condolences. We are forever grateful for the time we were blessed to share with Todd. I am not longer a representative of Poquoson High School but as a bull islander for life, I can tell you Poquoson High school is better place because of his work and time there. God Bless.

I had the pleasure of managing Todd over the past year. He was a vital part of the team and was always willing to help others. He was very passionate about his job and providing care for the patients. Todd was very intuitive and observant and always had questions that caused interesting troubleshooting sessions. A funny memory of Todd was when he would reach out to me and ask "Are you free? I have a quick question. " And I would respond "Todd, your questions are never quick". And he would laugh and agree. He is greatly missed. Tactile will never be the same without him.

I had the pleasure of knowing Todd for about 2 years through our job. In that short time, he was always available and willing to help anyone. We worked together on a few special projects and through that time, you could just see his love and passion for his patients. He often made me doubt if I was doing enough as an employee, because he always went above and beyond. He was fun to have vent sessions with and also to bounce ideas off of. Even though we work remotely and I never had the opportunity to meet him in person, he has left a great hole in our company. His presence will forever be missed.

I only knew Todd for two years but during that time he made a lasting impression on me. He showed so much compassion for his patients and he was always a leader to his teammates. He was quick to offer help to others no matter what the inconvenience he may experience. Todd will never be forgotten.

Todd was my mentor, my constant support, and a friend. He had a way of always making people smile and his patients loved him. His loss is being felt loudly and I miss him daily. Lynn
