Earl Henry Brevoort, 94 years old, of
Wake Forest, NC passed away peacefully early Monday morning, December 22, 2025. Earl was born in
Hampton, Virginia to the late Maurice John and Ota Sanders Brevoort. He was the youngest of 4 children.
Earl graduated from Poquoson High School in 1948. He attended Allegheny College in PA. In 1950, Earl moved to North Carolina to start a dairy farm with his parents and to attend North Carolina State University. After graduating from NCSU with a degree in Dairy Husbandry, Earl took over the dairy operations.
In 1953, Earl married Marjorie O'Neal of Wake Forest and together they had 3 sons and their dairy farm continued to grow. Earl and his 3 sons, Ed, Mike & Dennis, milked 200 purebred Holstein cows in a state of the art rotary floating milking parlor. Earl was the 2nd dairyman in the state of North Carolina and the 18th in the US to have installed the newest milking system in 1989. Earl was a member of the Carolina/Virginia Milk Producers Association for many years. Earl served on the NCSU Agriculture Foundation and was very active in the United DHIA over the years.
In 1995, the Brevoort family converted 140 acres of their former farm land on Camp Kanata Rd into a beautiful 18 hole public golf course, which was his life long dream. Earl and his 3 sons built Brevofield Golf Links and it opened March 30, 1996. Earl was a loyal member of Woodland Baptist Church in Wake Forest. He served as a deacon, member of the Finance Committee and was President of the Directors when the church built their present sanctuary. Earl & Marjorie were active in the Keenagers for many years. Earl & Marjorie enjoyed traveling together to the beach and the mountains. They loved square dancing and were former members of Magic Squares for 12 years. Earl enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife Marjorie for 72 years; his 3 sons, Ed (Brenda), Mike (Lee), and Dennis (Beth), all of Wake Forest. He will be missed by his 4 grandchildren, Kristy (Chris) Moxley, Robert (Kelli) Brevoort, Kevin Brevoort, Katelyn (Rob) Wheeler and 4 great-grandchildren, Grace Moxley, Gavin Moxley, Eric Wheeler and Carter Brevoort.
The Brevoort family will receive friends from 6-8pm at Bright's Funeral Home, on Friday December 26, 2025. The funeral will be at Woodland Baptist Church on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 2pm.
