Todd Alan Johnson, 58, of Rib Mountain, WI, died Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, WI, during his third battle with cancer.

He was born August 22, 1967, in Sherman, TX, son of William Howard and Rose Ellen (Kruit) Johnson. Todd graduated from Wausau West High School in 1985 and earned his Mechanical Design degree from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau in 1987.

Following his graduation, he worked at Oshkosh Truck as a design engineer until 1994 where he then worked as a process engineer & process engineering supervisor for A&B Process Systems in Stratford, WI, until 2019. He then worked as a senior process engineer for CRB in Marshfield, WI until 2020 before working at Membrane Process & Control as a senior process engineer & project manager. In 2025, he continued to work at Complete Filtration Resource in Marshfield, WI, as a senior project manager before his passing.

After graduation he worked as a design engineer at Oshkosh Truck Company until 1994, then served as a process engineer and process engineering supervisor with A & B Process Systems in Stratford, WI, through 2019. From 2019 to 2020 he was a senior process engineer for CRB in Marshfield, WI, before joining Membrane Process & Control as a senior process engineer and project manager. In 2025, he worked as a senior project manager with Complete Filtration Resource in Marshfield, WI, until his passing.

He married Lynne Hoffmann at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Wausau on June 10, 1995.

Todd's true passion was engineering. He thought of his job as more than work but a way to show his talents of creativity. Even when not working, he often spent his time creating items around the house. This included a greenhouse and, in the days before his death, tip downs for ice fishing. He further enjoyed every second he could in the woods and on the water. He had countless stories of times spent fishing with his father-in-law, father, sons, high school friends, and his coworkers. He had a passion for hunting, not only for the trophy buck, but the opportunity to enjoy God's outdoor creations. His favorite outdoor activities were bow hunting in Three Lakes, salmon fishing in Baileys Harbor, and fishing in Canada with his friends. He enjoyed playing his Gibson Les Paul, often pretending he was a member of the band Rush.

Todd is survived by his wife Lynne; two sons Nathan (Allison Samuel) of Verona and Zachary of Rib Mountain; one brother Scott (Dawn) of Rothschild; parents William & Rose of Rib Mountain; and his dog companion Molly. He is preceded in death by his beloved dog Lily. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church (1104 S 9th Ave, Wausau, WI 54401) Fr. Woodrow Pace will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10:00 AM until the hour of Mass.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Peterson, the hospitalists, various APPs, and nursing staff who cared for him over the past few years and gave him more time to spend doing what he loved.
