Mr. Todd Anthony Jones, known by most as "TJ" and by a few as "Lil Bro", 48, of Duluth, Georgia, passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the day he ascended to Heaven to fly side-by-side with God.
TJ was preceded in death by his father, William "Crash" Jones, his mother, Linda "Momma" Jones, his grandmothers, Charlie "Priscilla" Jones, and Margaret Moore, his grandfather, Howard Moore Sr., his special aunts Margie Moore, and Virginia Patton, and his special cousin, Kyle Patton. He is survived by his daughter, Taleyah Kyle Lovell-Jones, his sister, Yolanda Jones, his brothers, Chris (Arnita) Blackwell, Wayne Smith, TJ Lott, and Rodney Williams, his special uncles Howard "Sonny" Moore, Bridges Jones, and Charlie Jones, nephews: Niccollas, Christopher, II, and Bryce Blackwell, Avery, Bryant, and Chazmond Smith, Desmond and Dominique Lott, and special cousins Kenneth Patton, Denver (Brenda) Atwater, Eleanor and Crystal Gordon, his many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends including his Home Depot family and friends (most recently, Roswell Store #0146).
TJ was born on July 31, 1973, to William and Linda Jones in Rome, Georgia. Raised in a military family, TJ was blessed to live all over the United States until settling in Arizona; however, he always considered Georgia as his "home." TJ attended Dysart High School, in El Mirage, Arizona, where he made lifelong friends, was the Homecoming King, and excelled in football, basketball, and track and graduated on May 28, 1992.
On July 19, 1994, TJ began a successful career with Home Depot, working as a Receiving Associate. During his nearly 28 years, TJ received multiple accolades from customers, associates, and supervisors earning him numerous awards and recognitions.
In 1999, TJ met his special friend, Christie Lovell, and on October 15, 2003, they were blessed when TJ's one and only child, daughter Taleyah Kyle Lovell-Jones "Lady T" who was born in Sun City, Arizona. TJ gave her the middle name, Kyle, in honor of his cousin, Kyle Patton who passed in 2001. TJ loved Taleyah with his whole heart and soul and ended up moving from Arizona to Georgia to be closer to her and to remain a constant figure in her life.
TJ was a dedicated and amazing father, he loved his family, and he was a great friend to many. He was beloved by everyone who ever met him. No matter the circumstance, you'd always leave with a story of something funny/crazy TJ did while you were with him. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family, friends, and those who had the honor to know him, all who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor, cheered by his big smile and thunderous laugh. TJ truly brought the life to any party or gathering.
TJ loved sports! It didn't matter if he was playing or watching, he gave it his all. He had no qualms, being the biggest and loudest one cheering for his beloved teams. But by far, his favorite teams were his Georgia "home" teams; the University of Georgia Bulldogs (GO DAWGS), the Atlanta Braves and Falcons. Following his mother's example, TJ loved dressing sharp from head to feet from the baseball cap (matching his chosen favorite team), the watch, the shirt (most likely his chosen favorite team jersey), the bottoms (most likely shorts), the socks (most likely "crazy ones") and shoes (most likely Jordans)!
TJ was such a light in this sometimes-dark world, sending daily scriptures and prayers to family and friends, freely giving words of encouragement, and an uplifting smile. He touched the lives of more people than he probably realized and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. During his time with us, he made a point to always help anyone whenever he could, never second-guessing his decision. Anyone who knows TJ, knows that his family and friends meant everything to him, and in his eyes each of you reading this was family or you wouldn't be here. His love of life was evident in the way he lived and in the way he would want all of us to live. Our time with TJ was not as long as we wanted, but we can honor him by living our life as he did his! A life filled with love, compassion, and acceptance of others, showing simple acts of kindness, offering a helping hand whenever possible, sharing a big smile and uplifting laugh, being loyal, honest, hardworking, and loving to family and friends, and spreading joy and encouragement.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to secure Taleyah's financial future, which TJ worked hard to provide and felt strongly about her having.
