I served with Todd at the School of Infantry East about eleven years ago. He came to mind the other day as I was trying to explain to a high school NJROTC Cadet what sacrifices have been made in the service of our country. I mentioned the family he had left behind, both in the Corps and his own. I always thought the world of Todd. He was really a picture perfect Marine; smart as they come, big as a house, strong as an ox, motivated continually and yet humble. He smiled a lot. His children should know their daddy was simply a superb man. All of his family should be very proud of him. I'll see him again by the Grace of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Semper Fidelis to Todd and his wife, children and all who cherished Todd.

I met Todd standing on yellow footprints on Parris Island 5/20/1992. We spent the next 12 weeks together, he was our platoon guide, platoon 2075. He was out on front always leading the way. We graduated 8/14/1992 and ended up together at MCT, then onto Ft. Sill where we attended the Marine Artilery Scout Observers Course. Four weeks later we traveled together to Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA for Naval Gunfire School. I strived to be like Todd in the six months we spent together, yet no matter how hard I tried he always scored higher or finished faster then me. He was a natural born leader. The last time I saw Todd was November 1992 as we bother departed San Deigo for our units. He was headed to 2nd ANGLICO and I was headed to 4th ANGLICO. We kept in touch early on via letters, which enventually tapered off. I remember finding his email address in 2005 and we exchanged a few emails and photos. He was now an officer stationed as Quantico and married. I lived a few hours North in Maryland. We had discussed meeting up for beers but the plans never materialized and we lost touch once again. Over the past 12yrs you'd cross my mind and I would google your name to try and track you down. Today I was scrolling thru Facebook and came across a photo of a Marine that reminded me of you. I searched and found you, it was a post on the 10th anniversary of your passing. In all this time the thought never even crossed my mind that you had passed fighting for this great nation. You'll always be my brother, I no long have to wonder where you are our what you're doing, as for the last line of the Marines Hymn goes...If the Army and the Navy ever look on heavens scenes, They will find the street as guarded by United States Marines...

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Siebert Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Todd M. Siebert US Marine Captain. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I too was privileged to meet Capt Siebert at OCS Quantico in 06'. He was an amazing and gifted teacher. He really knew how to get our attention, storming in, BAR blazing. His history class was one of my favorite parts.
I was sad to learn of his death from a dedication to his memory on the walls of the USS North Carolina battleship in Wilmington. It hit deep to unexpectedly find his name. He was a passionate Marine and leader. I pray that God has another great Marine to stand watch.

Pvt Seibert was my recruit at Parris Island. I do not remember all of my recruits but I remember him very well. He was our guide due to his leadership abilities. Platoon 2075. When getting orders to Camp Lejeune Sgt Seibert was in the unit next to mine and I remember him telling me about getting his gold jump wings. We would visit often and talk about when he was at boot camp and what he has been doing at Camp Lejeune. My next duty station was Quantico, OCS as a drill instructor. When getting off the CH53 with my plt at TBS there was LT Seibert to guide us in the right direction. I'm not good with words but Capt Seibert is a man I will never forget. He was a great leader and Marine. I think about him a lot and pray for the family. Carl Sergent 1stSgt Ret

To the family of the late Capt. Todd M. Siebert, my husband and I are the current owners of his home in Jacksonville,NC. When we saw the house, it was "home at first sight". There was (is) such a sense of peace and pride here. I often wondered about this great warrior. Finding this sight has helped me identify his true being. Thank you for sharing him with our country. As he continues to rest in peace, remember your loss is heaven's gain. God bless you all!

My condolences. I'm not real sure what to say and I know it is long overdue. I just came across this today. I served under Capt Seibert in the S-3 in Habbaniyah. He was a great officer and a mentor. We talked often and I can truthfully say that he's the only officer I've worked for that conveyed true concern for the well being of his Marines and their family. I still haven't gotten over what happened.

I was an Officer Candidate, PLC Juniors in the summer of '06 when I met the Captain. Captain Siebert taught our Marine Corps History Class - We were all worn out and dreading another class to fight sleep through... I'll never forget how he burst in the classroom yelling and firing blanks from a BAR. Instead of reading from a book, all of us could all tell that he cared about what he was teaching and wanted to do everything he could for us. He was the most moto officer I have ever met. My only regret is never thanking him for being the passionate and dedicated Marine that he was. He exemplified everything I want to be. Semper fi, Sir. Rest in peace.

Darcey and family,
I have read all the entries on this site speaking of Todd's loyalty, devotion, professionalism and honor. As I write this, it is Memorial Day 2008, and my heart is heavy as I know your's is as well.
I first met Todd as an enlisted Marine while he was with 2d ANGLICO and then served with him in 3/6 while we were both Lieutenants. He had been with Lima Company for several months before I checked in and he immediately took me under his wing with his professional and confident leadership. While deployed to Afghanistan shortly after 9/11 it was clear that his leadership not only within his own platoon but company wide had those Marines prepared and without a doubt made that mission a success. When we returned from Afghanistan Todd was re-assigned to SOI, I took command of Todd's platoon in Lima Co 3/6. I look back on this and know that those shoes were impossible to fill.
I want you to know that your husband and father is a great man, whose dedication to our country has made many Marines better by knowing him as a man and experiencing his leadership as a Marine and because of this, his spirit will live on within the traditions of the Marine Corps forever.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Darcey,
God, I'm so sorry for your loss. I did not know Todd, but my heart aches for you and your family. I was listening to the news and it made me wonder, just how many men and women we have lost from just PA and I started searching. God, it really opens your eyes to what is going on when you see these beautiful boys and girls over there being killed. I found Todd on http://projects.washingtonpost.com/fallen. Seeing him along side all those who lost their lives is more than just sad. I wanted to thank you, your family and Todd for your great sacrifice. May God be gentle and kind to you and may you know that we are all proud and thankful.

I worked with Todd at PSU with the Police Department, specifically at the same intersection directing traffic for long hours during the football seasons. I was saddened to hear of your loss.
Todd embodied what a Marine or Soldier should be. I am an Army officer. Todd and I routinely traded a few words in jest concerning who was better, Marines or Soldiers. The truth is I respected Todd allot. He brought out the best in those around him by setting the example and his calm demeanor. I cannot recall him ever complaining or saying anything contrary about anyone. He had a good laugh and worked hard. I feel lucky to have known him and wanted to express my sincerest condolences for your loss. I too have served in Iraq and have children of about the same age. You and your family will always be in my family’s thoughts and prayers.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dear Siebert Family,
I want to send my condolences. I know that some time has passed since you lost Capt. Siebert. It was just recently brought to my attention when we heard from one of the Majors in the 3/6 that he has Capt. Todd Siebert & our son, LCpl Brandon Van Parys's pictures hanging in office near the door. It is the first & the last thing you see when entering & exiting his office. Our son was KIA on Feb. 5, 2007 by an RPG. It has been without a doubt the most difficult loss of our lives, but the days are starting to get a little better now. I pray that you are doing ok. Losing a child in any circumstance is difficult, for us our children, once young men, decided to serve their country, no matter the cost. The USA, the home of the free & the brave. I read some of the tributes to Capt. Siebert, he was a noble & hard working man as noted by the many who knew him. How proud you must be. If you would ever like to talk, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Only those who have loved & lost can truly understand the array of intense emotions that accompanies such an horrific loss. May God Bless you & yours.

I can't begin to express the sympathy I feel for your loss. Capt. Siebert is one of the most memorable instructors of OCS. He fully immersed himself in the class, going so far as even enacting mock rushes in the beginning of class while wearing a WWII uniform. “Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

I did not know Todd Siebert or his family, I just happened to be on the same plane last week when the Siebert family came home to Pittsburgh. We were unaware as to why we were asked to remain in our seats while the family exited but when we got off and saw the two Marines we could pretty much assume it was a sad event. The next day I read the obituaries and it confirmed what we thought. Such a handsome young man who gave his life for his country. I have thought about him and his family for days after that. Please know that I am so sorry for your loss.

To the friends and family of Capt. Siebert,
I want to express my hearfelt condolences for your loss. I am currently an Officer Candidate that had the pleasure of learning Marine Corps history from Capt. Siebert this past summer at Quantico while attending OCS. I will never forget the sincerity that he took in teaching those classes to all of us. He devoted much of his time to teach future leaders of Marines and we thank him and all of you for that. He will be greatly missed.
Semper Fi Sir, we won't let you down.

I am very sorry for your loss. Capt. Siebert was a Marine's Marine. The type of person who was very passionate towards breeding tomorrow's officers. I am sure he gave nothing less to his enlisted men also. I was a student at OCS when he taught there and as I am sure you have heard, he was the best. No other instructor could keep me up and attentive quite like Capt. Siebert. Wish I could have served in the fleet with him and I suppose I will be. Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Thank You Capt. Siebert

To the Family of Sgt. Todd M. Siebert,
There are no words to convey what my heart wants to say. For you have suffered a tremendous loss. Our nation and his brothers in Uniform have suffered a great loss. But no greater a loss to YOU, no greater sacrifice........
My dear Siebert Family, please know that you are not alone. My heart aches with yours and tears of sorrow stream down my face as I grieve with you in the loss of your precious Todd.
Please know that Sgt. Todd's dedication, honor and commitment to his country and our freedom will never be forgotten. I will forever remember his service and sacrifice each and every time I hold my hand to my heart and bow my head in prayer.
Thank you Sgt. Todd for all you have given. You are truly an American HERO. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
Dear Siebert Family, it is my prayer that God will comfort your hurting hearts and give you strength to carry on. May the tender memories of Todd soften your grief. May you find comfort and peace in the thought of the joy that knowing Todd brought. “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”
“Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

To
the Family of Todd M. Siebert,
Please know how truly sorry we are for the
loss of your HERO. As Marine Parents we share so many things in common and
so many feelings, but this is one that only a few share. The sorrow and
the pride that you are feeling right now will stay in your hearts forever,
and as long as you keep that your precious son will live on with you forever.
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for us, Jesus Christ and
the American Serviceman. One died for our soul and the other for our freedom.
Please know that Todd is now an angel and will live on forever still brave
enough to protect our souls. Never, ever forget the pride you felt that
day he graduated bootcamp and the feeling that consumed your entire being
just knowing that you raised a person with the integrity and bravery to step-up
and do the right thing. Your son will always be faithful and through his
loving memory so shall you ~ Semper Fidelis. God Speed to you during this
sorrowful time.

I will always remember Captain Siebert as a Marine who gave me inspiration when I was feeling my lowest. At OCS it is hard to find that ray of inspiration that is so often lost in the blur that everything becomes. Captain Siebert, thanks for all you did. I will never forget you. To the family, I will keep you in my prayers. Semper Fi; Captain Siebert showed us young Marines what that is all about.

With my deepest sympathy I offer my condolences. I only knew Captain Siebert through Officer Candidate School, but he was one of the best instructors there. Everyone who knew him was a better person for it, and I'm sure all the Marines in his care would agree with that. Thank you for everything. Semper Fi, sir.

We are so sorry for your loss.
"I give you this,
one thought to keep,
I am with you still,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken
in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars
that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone-
I am with you still,
in each new dawn."

We Remember Them
At the rising of the sun and at its going down,
We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of Winter,
We remember them.
At the opening of buds and in the rebirth of Spring,
We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of Summer,
We remember them.
At the rustling of leaves and the beauty of Autumn,
We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live;
for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them.
When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make,
We remember them.
When we have achievements that are based on theirs,
We remember them.
As long as we live, they too shall live,
for they are a part of us, as we remember them.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you,

Capt Siebert was one of the most memorable instructers at OCS. I distinctly remember his classes in the blurr of things that happen because he made what could have been a class that was not interactive. But he made it as such with his passion about history. The uniforms that he wore gave it a lasting memory and something to look back on to remind myself of the history.. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your teachings. Semper Fi

To the Siebert Family,
Knowing what it is like to lose someone close to you, I want you to know that your husband is a true hero, just as my brother (SGT Lonny Wells, US Marines died Nov 9th 2004, Iraq 1/8) was. I know that these next few months are going to be the hardest, but I will tell you that there are many people around the world and throughout Pittsburgh who will help you through this. Don't let anyone tell you he died for nothing. I was a soldier for 8 years and I am proud of my service and my country and I truly believe in what we are doing. God bless you and your family.
