Todd Steward Obituary
Todd Travis Steward, affectionately known as "Flash," entered this world on January 26, 1967, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan. On November 7, 2025, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, he departed this life at the age of 58 due to injuries sustained during an automobile accident in which he was involved as a pedestrian.
Todd was a man of many talents and passions. He dedicated much of his life to the culinary arts, honing his skills as a chef and line cook. His career began at a country club resort, where he made a name for himself through hard work and dedication. He later brought his culinary expertise to Huddle House and Golden Waffle in Asheboro, places where he cherished the laid-back atmosphere and the opportunity to connect with the people he served. His daughter fondly recounts how he could turn a squash into a whimsical duck with just three deft cuts of a paring knife, an example of the creativity and joy he brought to his craft.
Beyond the kitchen, Todd's heart raced with the thrill of motorcycles. He was an enthusiast who loved tinkering with anything that had a motor. Proud owner of both a Honda Goldwing and Shadow at different times, he relished the freedom and exhilaration of the open road.
Music ran through Todd's veins-especially Rock N Roll. His favorite band, KISS, accompanied him through many joyous moments and memories made at concerts with family. His home was constantly filled with the robust sounds of his giant stereo, a testament to his love for music that he seemed to feel in his very soul.
An avid artist, Todd found solace in drawing and shared this passion with his daughters, teaching them to appreciate art and illustration. As an animal lover, he fostered a sense of care and compassion in all who knew him.
His love and patience were most profoundly expressed in the role of fatherhood, as he lovingly helped raise two girls who were not biologically his, yet loved him dearly and called him Daddy. These daughters remember Todd with immense gratitude for his unwavering love and compassion throughout their lives.
Todd was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Rosaire Laporte and Virginia Bidwell. He leaves behind his cherished daughters, Mary Ann Brownlee of Texas, Summer Parker, and his devoted girlfriend, Piper Wood Covington, both of whom reside in the home they shared; grandchildren, Kayla and Candice Brownlee, Talyn Parker, Phoebe Marion, Dailey and Declyn Cheek as well as great-grandchildren, Mellany and Isabelle. He also leaves his step mother, Barbara Laporte of Standish, MI, as well as siblings, Michele Laporte, Michael Laporte and Yvette Laporte McMurray. His life and legacy will be tenderly remembered by his adopted daughters, who are eternally grateful for the profound impact he had on their lives.
A memorial service in Todd's honor will be conducted at a later date, to be announced when available. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially by those whose lives he touched with his kindness, humor, and boundless spirit. May his memory live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service in Asheboro is honored to assist the family of Mr. Todd Travis Steward.
