Tom C. Delehant

Thomas C. Delehant, age 77, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, passed away at his home on February 17, 2026, with his loving children at his side. He was born on July 13, 1948, in Syracuse, New York, to the late Laurence and Erla (Elliott) Delehant.

Tom was a graduate of Dondero High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Michigan State University before continuing studies at Wayne State University Law School. Following college, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Bliss before being deployed to Germany.

He was proud of his over 45 years of service to the Detroit Plumbers Union Local 98, to which he dedicated the better part of his life. A tireless advocate for working men and women, Tom believed deeply in the labor movement and took genuine pride in knowing that his efforts made a real difference in the lives of those he served. Over the course of his career, he was elected to various offices, including Executive Board, Business Agent, Financial Secretary, and ultimately Business Manager. His strong work ethic, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his fellow union members were evident throughout his career.

Tom was an avid fan of Michigan State football and basketball and always looked forward to a good conversation about the Detroit Tigers, and all things baseball. He was also proud of his Irish heritage.

Above all, Tom's greatest joy was his family. He was deeply devoted to his children and cherished any time spent with friends and family.

He was the beloved father of Michael (Stephanie) Delehant and Angie (John Finnerty) Delehant; dear brother of Kathy (Larry) Wallace and the late Laura Nielson; loving uncle of Brandon (Grace) Wallace; and proud great-uncle of Enzo and Ellie.

Visitation will be Thursday 2 - 7 p.m. and the funeral will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. 11 Mile Rd. (4 blocks east of Woodward), Royal Oak.

Memorial contributions in Tom's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors Project, or The Salvation Army.
