Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turlock Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Jan. 27, 2026.
Born Seuth Boutsingkhone in Muang Hin Boun, Quan Thakhek, Khammouane Province, Laos, he was the son of Phanh and Sagouan. From a very young age, he was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Phra Phor Bu Pe Douangdara and Ma Huane, in Vientiane, Laos, where he grew up surrounded by care, guidance, and strong family values.
In 1975, he graduated from the Lao-German Technical College (LGTC) in Vientiane, a respected vocational institution known for its rigorous standards and practical education. At LGTC, he received hands-on training in electrical work, which became the foundation of his lifelong career. Following his graduation, he worked as an electrician at Nam Papa Nakhoneluan, a state-owned public water utility in Laos, where he served with dedication, integrity, and professionalism.
Rooted in the Buddhist tradition in which he was raised, Tomas practiced Buddhism throughout his life while also embracing all faiths, believing deeply that all human beings are children of God. During his time in Laos, he discovered the Bahá'í Faith, which further shaped his spiritual outlook and strengthened his belief in unity, peace, and the oneness of humanity. He dedicated himself as a youth leader, sharing and spreading the Bahá'í Faith among young people in Laos, inspiring them with the values of service, compassion, and spiritual growth.
While living in Vientiane, he met the love of his life, Somsavai Indara, and they were married in 1977. Together, they shared a life built on love, hard work, and deep devotion to family. They were blessed with six children; five sons and one daughter. During this time, Tomas continued his work as an electrician at Nam Papa Nakhoneluan and helped run their family shop, lovingly managed by his wife. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, perseverance, and quiet strength, forming a home filled with care, responsibility, and enduring love.
In 1988, he and his family immigrated to the United States, where he became known as Tomas Boutsingkhone, the name by which he was known and loved by many. Though far from his homeland, he carried his culture, values, and love for family with him always.
After settling in California, Tomas continued to give back through his skills as an electrician. At Wat Lao Buddharangsy, a Buddhist temple in Ceres, California, he generously donated his time and expertise by installing lighting throughout the temple. His work helped create a welcoming and peaceful environment for worship, ceremonies, and community gatherings, leaving a lasting impact on all who came there.
Tomas was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Somsavai Indara; his children, listed from oldest to youngest: Somsay, Saysavanh, Phounsavath, Ladda, Aloune, and Phanatniloun; and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Kameron, and Kamanu.
He was preceded in death by his older brothers, Phomma and Ou Pek Kaa, and is survived by his younger brothers, Ead and Aout, who currently reside in Laos.
Tomas will be remembered for his quiet strength, humility, kindness, and lifelong service to his family and community. His legacy of faith, generosity, and love will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
