Tommie, was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Joe Pete Jaramillo on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Tommie, age 90, died peacefully at home having fought a valiant four-year battle with kidney disease. She was born April 14, 1934 in Albuquerque to Lorenzo and Estella Vigil. Tommie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was the matriarch of her family as well as her Los Ranchos neighborhood. She was known for her wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Tommie's life was filled with warmth and hospitality. She had a talent for making delicious food and took great joy in feeding all who visited. Her refrigerator, pantry and freezer were always full and ready for any unexpected guest, emergency or sharing.
Tommie was a lifetime member of the Sociedad Nuevo Méjico de Mutual Protección No. 2 of Alameda, NM and of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
Tommie is survived by her children, Panchita J. (PJ) King (Michael), Jose (Leslie), Estevan (Fronia), Raul (Gail) and Rebecca Contreras (Alex) and bonus daughter Rosie Gutierrez. Tommie is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole Oliver (Kevin), Damian King (Rebekah), Kalynn Jaramillo (Kamua Purce), Steve Martinez (Monica), Cody Jaramillo (Amanda), Lindsey Pachta (Patrick), Daniel Jaramillo, Justina Perea, Justin Perea, Antonio Jaramillo, Joshua Jaramillo (LaNae) and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Turner, her brother Ricardo Vigil (Ann); sister-in-law Triny Martinez and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Tommie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Pete of almost 60 years; her brother Manuel Vigil; her daughter Estella Martinez; and her granddaughter Tomasita Martinez.
Family and friends may visit Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at French Funeral Home, 9300 Golf Course Road NW, a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm. Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 9:00am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 4th Street, NW, Interment will follow at 2:00pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Damian, Kevin, Cody, Joshua, Justin, and granddaughter Kalynn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve I. Martinez, Robert B. Jaramillo and Ernest Gabaldon.
The Jaramillo family would like to express its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Gustavo Espino, Christine O'Berg, PA and Fresenius Dialysis Rio Rancho team for their 4+ years of dedicated care, compassion and support for our mother.
In lieu of flowers, Tommie's wish is for memorial contributions to be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
