Tommey Roy Smith Sr., a beloved husband, father, and dedicated mechanic, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, at the age of 53. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on November 9, 1969, Tommey was a resident of Mamou, Louisiana at the time of his passing.
Tommey, known for his infectious laughter and warm smile, had a passion for his work as an oilfield mechanic in the petroleum industry. With his keen mechanical skills and diligent work ethic, he made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community he served.
Outside of work, Tommey enjoyed spending time with his family, cherishing every moment he had with them. Whether it was shooting pool, delighting in a delicious BBQ, or simply running the roads seeking new adventures, Tommey embraced life to the fullest. His love and devotion to his family were unparalleled, and he leaves behind a legacy of strong familial bonds.
Tommey is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Michelle Smith, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they raised a beautiful family that brought immense joy to their lives. His beloved children, James Castille, Candis Leray, Ashley Kinchen, Shandi Province, Britney Smith, Tommey Travis Smith, and Tommey Roy Smith Jr., were the light of his life. Tommey was also a doting grandfather to Levi, Ashlee, Connor, Derek, Bri’anna, Adalyn, Aria, Sadie, Kadien, Breanna, Ava, and Krystal and to his great grand kids Keeley and Rowan. He cherished his role as a grandfather and created treasured memories with each and every one of them.
Tommey will be fondly remembered by his brother, Troy Smith, and sister, Melanie Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calbert Smith, and Francis Corlin Mulln, as well as his brother, John Matt Smith. Tommey was also deeply saddened by the loss of his stepfather, Ron Null, who played a significant role in his life.
While we mourn Tommey's passing, let us also rejoice in the memories we shared with him. May we find solace in the knowledge that his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
