It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommie Palmer Rathbone of Fines Creek on September 11, 2024, in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 73. She was born on November 13, 1950, in Haywood County to the late Tom and Mae Hannah Palmer.
Tommie was a dedicated Cafeteria Manager and latch key worker at Fines Creek, Crabtree, and Riverbend Elementary Schools. She imparted kindness and care to all those she encountered and adored working with children. Her compassion and hard work left a lasting impact on those around her. She loved spending time with her husband traveling, cooking, gardening, farming, hunting, and caring for her animals.
She is survived by her beloved spouse Terry Rathbone, daughter Teresa Heinz (Jason), grandsons, Jackson Heinz (Sarah) and Jones Heinz, great grandson, Jeremiah, along with numerous extended family and friends who loved her dearly. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Ray and James Ferguson.
A celebration of Tommie's life will be held at 2:30 pm, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service with the Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 prior to the service.
