Tommie Large Reagan, age 97 of Strawberry Plains, passed away at home on Monday,
November 3, 2025. Tommie was born on September 23, 1928, in Jefferson County, Tennessee. Tommie was the sixth child of Paralee Snyder and John Sherman Large.
Tommie graduated from Rush Strong High School and completed a cosmetology degree at Knoxville School of Beauty. She was a beautician, worked in the packing department at Magnavox in Jefferson City, was a caregiver and church volunteer. Tommie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Knoxville. She was married the love of her life, Russell Eugene (Gene) for almost 67 years.
Tommie is survived by her three daughters; Charlotte (Jim) Damewood, Mary Lou Apple, Emagene Reagan; 3 grandchildren, Benjamin David (Jen) Cook, Wendi Cook (Stephen) Pelfrey, John Horst; and 3 great grandchildren, Brice Robert Pelfrey, Zena Margot Cook and Brady William Pelfrey. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, son-in-law James Apple and infant grandson Joey Damewood. Special thanks and appreciation to Covenant Hospice. We will always be grateful for Donna, Cyndee and Kelley for their special care for Mom.
The family will receive friends Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 12:30 – 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Knoxville (510 West Main Street). A memorial service will follow the visitation. Dr. Brent McDougal and Susan Tatum will officiate the service. Tommie will be laid to rest in a private graveside at Pleasant Grove Piney Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International for Bibles, P.O. Box 1452, Knoxville, TN 37901 or Women On Mission at First Baptist Knoxville 510 W. Main Street, Knoxville, TN 37902.
Tommie will be remembered for her generosity, sweet smile, calligraphy handwriting, encouraging card ministry, sewing abilities, crafts (cross-stitch, quilts, knitting), amazing cook, who always prepared enough food to share with family, friends, neighbors and anyone in need, and volunteer work with local and international missions. Fielden Funeral Home is honored to serve the Reagan family.
